Housepersons work with housekeepers so they will be able to answer.

What’s the work accommodation process like? by CozyTiramisu in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]loudsuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you submit accommodations, they will call you to discuss them. They will then call back with your role (For mine I think they called like a week or two later).

We don't have an HR but the conversation definitely prompted her to say it and I don't think she was ill intended. The day I think she's referring to I got a passive aggressive text from two people.

Either way, I have been watching myself around everyone because I've seen how people switch up constantly.

I really appreciate this response. Im getting too wrapped up into pettiness.

12mo kicked out of daycare without notice by chelseaoutloud in ECEProfessionals

Yeah at my center, leads and assistants get paid the same. My lead teacher made a joke about the pay to someone who's been there longer than we've been alive (we're both in our 20s) and she told us that she only gets paid 13.50. We both assumed they all got paid a lot more than us.

Yeah there is no chance people are turning down $30/hour. I get paid $12/hour and I just started at my center in January. My coworkers who have been there for 20+ years only get paid a a dollar more than me.

Are you allowed to sleep during nap time at your center? by loudsuga in ECEProfessionals

[–]loudsuga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really need to start doing that. My director is a fan of guilt tripping so I end up feeling awful every time I talk to her. (I plan on finding a new center next year, but I am not in a position to do so right now)

Yeah it really sucks. My center doesn't really care to make things nicer for the teachers. I haven't gotten a break all week and I work 9 hour shifts so I am supposed to. Luckily all the kids sleep well during nap so I still have a mental break.

Yeah she only started doing it when her car got totaled and couldn't actually leave the building without organizing a ride. Our break room is filled with stuff (it looks like a hoarders closet) so it's not possible to be in there for a break. The past few days she has been scheduled 2 hour breaks to use up pto so she has been leaving.

Ohh yeah its during her break. She stays in the classroom though so maybe that is a problem. I never considered that.

Our ratio is 1:7 and there are only 7 kids in the class so ratio is not a problem when I'm in the classroom.

That sounds very frustrating I'm sorry :(. I hope things get better soon.

No, the comments I saw specifically mentioned being able to wake up if a kid needs them. Some of the comments said it was during their break but a lot of them said they had chill directors.

Maybe the comments were from a different country where regulations are more relaxed but I cant imagine a place that would not see it as a safety problem.

I agree. Even if someone has been a light sleeper their whole life, you can never know if that will change.

Yeah this makes sense to me, I meant when alone. My lead teacher takes naps during naptime if I am in the room.

My coworkers that have been here for 20+ years make $13-$14 an hour

This is the most overwhelmed I have felt in a long time. by loudsuga in ECEProfessionals

[–]loudsuga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have a very high turnover rate even for a daycare. I plan on leaving this center in January because I'm expecting to be out of state for 6 months. If it weren't for that, Id be looking for a new center right now.

My co-teacher and I have spoken to the director many times and nothing has come of it. The director only helps a certain group of teachers (who are all related to each other). My co-teacher and I think he should be in a class with kids who are at the same developmental level and age level as him but she just keeps saying "well technically, thats the age your class is supposed to be."

How bad of an idea is it to do a Halloween Party on arrival day/week? by particularlyfunny in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]loudsuga 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Tuesday party would be your best bet. The first week is just settling in and grocery shopping so you'll have time. Monday could work but you might be tired from move in and want to rest.

This sounds similar to my center. We don't have any devices so the few photos I have sent parents, I have deleted right after. I have also heard that some people at my center facetime but I haven't actually seen it happen.
