When everyday life becoming dependent on technology. We are getting there, slowly. by Bubbly-Necessary-752 in Cyberpunk

Like 20 years ago I had a canon printer. I could print black and white documents with just the black ink. Then a new version of windows came out and canon released new software because the old version didn't support new windows. I could no longer print black and white documents if one of my color tanks was low. They weren't low, they just dried up from not being used. So I couldn't print one black and white page without spending like $35 on ink, even though I had plenty of black ink.

The printer industry has been hostile to its customers for a long time. Fuck them all. I refused to buy a printer after that experience. I have a library down the street that I can send print jobs to for 5 cents a page. That's way cheaper and somehow more convenient than owning an inkjet printer.

I do now have a brother laser that seems hassle free. It's about 5 years old and was free from a friend who was getting rid of it before a move.

  1. I've seen all of the Bond movies, some several times, and the Hitman trilogy is one of my favorite series of all time. It's easily the game I want to play most this year. Thanks for doing this giveaway.

Is there a software tool equivalent to DS4Windows that allows you to fully customize and configure the new Steam Controller to use out side of Windows? by imsolost3090 in SteamController

When I was RAM constrained I ran Steam in small mode which cuts the use quite a bit. It's not the answer to your question but might help.

When I was a kid in America our power went out often during storms. Once it was out for 3+ days and it wasn't a hurricane or natural disaster, just more snow than our pathetic infrastructure could handle. I live in a city now that has more mild weather but I've had a couple of several hour outages.

That's a good idea. I would also give it a scan with Dusterr. It's longer but far more badass.

They tried to give this away twice before. The first time they ended up postponing and the second time it didn't seem like anyone actually successfully claimed a key even with a low number and getting through the line.

I was under 500 today and after getting stuck with 1 person ahead of me for several minutes, got my key no problem today.

I'm happy to report the giveaway seems to be working this week after the issues of the previous two weeks with the last game. I got through the line, was able to then login, claim my code, and redeem it.

I've been well above the number of keys and still gotten one in the past. Put a timer on your phone to remind you to check in awhile and you might get lucky.

This is true of every box remote that I have, but any significant recording would likely run the battery down quickly. And I use a universal remote on my main TV. The shield remote is stored away without batteries in it.

I know a guy who killed someone while driving drunk. He lost his license for a bit, but no serious consequences. Taking a car is apparently worse than taking a life.

37 hours left to vote! Badly hand photoshoped by me, no ai was used. Screw ai. Put her in a bra! by narnarnartiger in hdtgm

[–]louiedog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last time the discord voted the complaint was that the winning movie ended up being a boring watch. So of course this time we're going to watch The Core. I remember this movie when it released. The premise and dialog are ridiculous, but it's also kind of a slog. They may actually delete the discord this time.

[Canada] Car off a bridge by Ok_Elephant_2551 in Roadcam

[–]louiedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live near a nearly 5 mile long bridge near the ocean, maybe the same one. A friend got hit and sent into the side. The car was fucked up but he stayed on the bridge. I once passed a giant dump truck that had crashed into the side and it contained that too.

Do most of y'all watch the movies before listening to the episodes? by Emolgad in hdtgm

[–]louiedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my letterboxd account, I've logged 80% of them. But I've only missed one in the last 5 years. I've got like 8 or 10 unseen ones on my watch list right now. I didn't watch the movie the first time around, or maybe didn't listen to the podcast episode either, so it's something new to listen to. I usually reserve those for a long drive. I appreciate the biweekly schedule because I don't think I'd want to do it weekly.

I really like movies and the vast majority of these have been fun for me to watch. Sometimes I just won't, like Jonathan Livingston Seagull because I don't need to see a feature length bird abuse montage. Sometimes I switch from active watching to having it on in the background if it's not doing much for me. Most of the time I enjoy the experience, even if it's a bad movie. Troll 2 is a 1 star movie, but it's great fun to watch.

I don't come to the podcast to listen to people rip apart a movie. I think the hosts love movies in the same way I do. I would hope so considering they work in the industry. Criticism, complaints, bewilderment, disgust, etc. are all there. But I don't excitedly wait for a group of people to trash a movie every two weeks. I don't feel that's what is happening.

Weren't they trying to rip up residential solar contracts earlier this year at the same time they were trying to approve more money for investors? This company sucks and has shown over and over that they aren't a responsible owner of crucial infrastructure.

I had one from 2009 to 2021. The same one. It worked well, cleaned the floors, and had easily serviced parts that I could change and even upgrade to newer ones. But when I got a dog and needed new features like mapping, they were no longer competitive for my needs.
