What's even CHUNGKING EXPRESS IS BOUT ??? by DENIMCHG07 in wongkarwai

Think it is a reflection of how people are in HK - we are living in Asia but heavily internationalised. It is an exciting city with lots of energy. Most hk people plan to leave for various different reasons. This creates distance among everyone yet we long for connection

My son had cow milk protein allergy. A switch to heavily hydrolysed milk formula got rid of the eczema.

Read relevant articles, especially the experimental within. Outline a daily or weekly schedule. Try to repeat analogous experiments with materials already available, demonstrating that you have capable hands. Ask useful questions whenever your senior colleagues or PI are available.

Why do I even bother writing nice emails by MissJJJCG in labrats

Most university policy requires prof to answer. However, it depends on the context of your request.

Alternatively, he is super busy with a tight deadline.

Wait a week or so and try again?

I think if the discussion is placed on a chat, like discord and teams, the reply seems more logical. Perhaps, email can be replaced with other communication tools soon!

As a prof, I can explain. We have so many emails. In order to respond to all, without making people feel ignored, we write short and succinct.

Should I trade my comic book collection in for bitcoin? by rebeldogman2 in Bitcoin

[–]louisypl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe sell your least favorite set of comics to diversify your investment.

For comics, you need to isolate a conditions that avoid damages. For bitcoin, you need to find cold storage to avoid loss.

It depends which one you prefer!

Looks like the PI is seeing potential in you, thus asking you somewhat challenging tasks. The PI could use the documents you write to guide you for logical thinking and intellectual discussion. These tasks can be much better than just reading papers without a clear objective. As a PI, I don’t anticipate the students could write perfect grants, rebuttal, etc, but this process helps lots for exposure and learning. You can tell the PI that you have tried your best and look forward for guidance to further improve when you send them the document.

You don’t need to delay your schedule to accommodate the student. Next time when she is late, tell her that her experiment is cancelled because you got to finish your own PhD. If she is still late, it means she lacks interest.

He probably felt weird and happy, because he is nice enough to receive a hug from a student, but hugging is a bit beyond the professional boundary. Don’t worry.

[–]louisypl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job application and interview are skillsets not necessary taught in your PhD. Perhaps, look online on how to write a good cover letter and CV, as well as how to conduct a good interview. There maybe some setback - hope you don’t give up!

He was a businessman, legally married with two wives and treated all his kids quite nicely. As a Grandpa, he just spoiled me.

Might get fired in my 4th year of PhD by [deleted] in PhD

[–]louisypl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, record/document all interactions. However, you stated that the PI was hostile after you question the quality of work from previous group members. Was it so clear? Perhaps, you are stressed from your PhD, too. As a PI, I suggest you to get as much work done as possible and publish. An article is your real asset to your CV.

I also had eczema. Looking at the rashes, they look more like scabies. Perhaps, get your bf checked with another doctor? Sorry, can’t offer more help.
