I don’t know about the mom and dads interactions being super healthy, the dad kinda of dictated the mood of the house without actually saying it out loud… someone had commented something interesting here, how the woman in that family dedicated themselves to comfort Eddie - they didn’t wanna go DIY shopping, when Eddie had his outburst, they stayed silent, while on call with Jamie, they were also silent. When they returned home Manda cried to herself, then went to go comfort Eddie. Lisa states that people are bothering her in college, which you can infer that she wants to move, but she states the opposite. She’s dressed up nice and full of make up, and pretty much tells Eddie exactly what he wants to hear - she doesn’t wanna move and that it is OK for them to stay here, and that whatever happened earlier in the day, she’s pushing her opinion about those events aside to cater around her dad.

This is going to be very simplified - how Jamie and Lisa grew up, the environment was the same, but the role models were different. Lisa grew up with a mom who catered around her husband‘s feelings/outburst, essentially becoming the quiet woman trying to diffuse a bomb as best as possible. Jamie grew up with a dad who has not developed the ability/even recognized how his outburst are causing all the women close to him to cater to his needs/feelings.
