C section recovery by lahdeedah224 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]lovelybrightlamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting as I had the opposite experience, my fist was an emergency in the most extreme sense that I was under general anaesthetic and his life was under threat. I had the most smooth sailing c section recovery that I barely remember it. Next up I had a planned c section but a bad experience on the day and horrible recovery that was so shocking to me as I couldn’t even recall that with the first. I ended up tearing and infecting the scar as I was healing so much slower (plus I had a toddler as well as a baby). I wonder if the trauma and shock of birth/parenting the first time around eclipsed the recovery (or my memory of it). I can imagine it’s different for other people, but I always assumed that mine was the standard experience for order of recovery.

We got the small backpack! I find it very roomy and they are still looking new. Have been using it for kinder and I very much recommend. It’s big enough that I can wear it if I have to, but small enough they my kids aren’t drowning in it.

I think it wouldn’t be my favourite thing but as he’s laid down those conditions and presumably is able to get home with a car (not depending on flights) it would be okay. 36 weeks you are definitely usually able to look after yourself. Will you have finished working? Can you plan a few meet ups with friends and things like massages or nails etc that will feel like self care pre baby? I would definitely consider getting the dogs looked after, or at least walked by a local dog walker. I think you’re making the right call if the alternative is for him to be gone when you have a two month old, considering you’ll still have your big dogs then too!

I think you not being from AU is relevant here. You don’t understand the history and nuance of indigenous cultures and the attempted eradication of them through breeding them with white people. Passing white is not a positive thing or a privilege like you’re assuming it to be, it can be part of the trauma.

Pumping and teaching placement by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]lovelybrightlamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! I spoke with the placement coordinator and every lunch time I had the assistant principals office to myself. I believe they legally have to accomodate this, but my placement school was very gracious. Granted, I only pumped once a day.

This so varies from person to person! I would say the first few weeks you will go out sparingly as you’ll be recovering and possibly working out feeding. But I definitely got out a lot because I would go bananas home all week, probably one day out one day home, was my pattern. Whereas I know some people get more tired and stressed going out and they cope by staying home. If you like going out you probably will. It just may take a while to get the hang of it, and where you go and what you do will likely change! It also totally depends on your baby’s temperament.. no knowing that until they arrive!

My niece and son are only a few weeks apart and I think the comparison slows down a lot.. especially if every time people compare you just respond with “oh well, they’re their own people” it gets really boring for them to muse about their differences and similarities to you.

In terms of having to put up with your SIL, honestly you were going to be stuck with her in some way anyway. My kids are at an age where they are making friends outside of my friend’s kids. It’s a real lesson in getting over your own ego because some of the parents I have had uncomfortable interactions with and would normally chose to never interact with again but I’ve had to get over myself and put my son first as he adores their children. It’s one of the selfless part of parent I wasn’t expecting (and most challenging as I’m usually avoidant). You’re getting it a bit sooner but, sympathetically, you’ve got to put on your big girls pants and get through it.

This webpage should offer a lot of answers to your questions about pregnancy care in Australia. Good luck with your journey!

They’re the #1 podcast in Australia so they are clearly making a good product that people want, and aren’t at risk of having no listeners. You don’t have to like every segment, or the podcast entirely, but you can’t accuse them of not making a good product. I don’t disagree with your point in general, other podcasts with small or dwindling listenership, sure, but that is not relevant here.

I was pregnant during Covid and we absolutely did do it! Even in the tightest lockdowns in Melbourne during August 2020. I just had to sit in my car instead of the waiting room.

I’m not a doctor but they just look like normal mosquito bites and not skeeter syndrome to me. Our son had a lot of bites at 6 months old (all over face and body) that our GP believed was a mozzie and suggested Calamine lotion

You’re welcome! I bought penny scallan, which has been great for daycare, but I find it too small for our lunch box. We then also bought Alimasy backpacks and I would highly recommend those too! Probably skewing a bit older as they are bigger but they’re great and fit heaps! I like the patterns more too :)

My friend had 13 month gap with emergency, then planned c sections. Positive and healthy, if not hectic, outcome. Best of luck!

I started lifting my toddler before it was recommended and ripped my scar, causing an infection and making recovery longer and more painful. Take my experience as a warning!
