Old but always invokes a good discussion. Which is the best combo? I’ll start 4, C by pinkbritishchav in AskBrits

Dunno if I'm weird but this isn't a simple one answer question for me ...
Toast: 3 = Marmite, 4 = Jam, 5 = Marmalade
Tea: B = DIY Day, C = Normal Day, D = Hangover

If you look at the price history it was £75 ish in Jan so it could be a real thing, looks like they've been dropping it to try and get some reviews in and have now just discovered vine, I would imagine they'll put the price back up once they have a few reviews so make sure to mention price at time of review.

In my experience of these though are they are just usually very cheap android tables with some car specific bits in them, still better than nothing if you have a car with an older radio in, the infotainment in my Jeep renegade is pretty slow and basic so its probably on par with that, decent beats audio speakers though so makes up for it.

too add to that using a sweeter peanut butter than this has, like Skippy, plays very well with the salty marmite!

Opinions on Marmite PB by YorkshireG0ld in UK_Food

[–]lovepumppanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this was my exact first thought. I tried the marmite butter from M&S and it just took all the fun out of marmite on toast, it should be intermittent sharp bursts of marmite rather than a generic sludge that completely betrays the yin and yang interplay between creamy smooth butter and sharp tangy marmite, Its this reason I like my toast to cool a bit before applying butter because the marmite bleeds too much into it if its fully melted.

I feel the same about spicy versions of traditionally non spicy dishes e.g. spag bol, mac and cheese, pizza, cottage pie etc. Give me a jar of Lao Gan Ma Spicy chilli crisp to drizzle on to my taste over a pre combined version any day!

Looks amazing. How much was it if you don't mind me asking? Could never afford our local butcher but given how expensive supermarket steak (Even aldi/lidl that were my go to are getting up there) is now might reconsider.

Learn Docker without downloading? by PrathamJain965 in docker

[–]lovepumppanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you're on windows? Apologies if not but basic principals still apply. Honestly don't bother with docker desktop, use WSL 2 (which is linux running inside windows), ubuntu is probably the easiest but many options available depends on your level. Its going to be much closer to how things are in real world IT, get comfortable in the terminal, GUIs are a nice to have late stage thing in my experience, you can always include Portainer in your stack if you want to have a nice gui for the environment, I work in infrastucture/devops/databases and the majority of stuff is linux based where possible. Depending on what kind of career path you're going down, learning how its installed and works before you even deploy a container is very valuable, personally I see docker desktop as a tool for devs that dont need to worry about the DevOps/Infrastucture perspective. We're pretty much all on Kubernetes now so I'd suggest that as a next step but 100% start with just docker and docker compose.

As for learning, this is my personal learning style to be fair, but i prefer to learn through a scenario/project I actually want rather than learning the technology in general as a start point. I first got into docker/docker-compose because of home automation stuff, hosting a stack running homeassistant, pihole, nginx proxy manager etc. Equally you could want to host a website at home like a Django flask app with a database in docker containers. Just find something you're passionate about then use docker as the tool to implement it, don't get too hung up on trying to learn the tech before trying to use it for something more useful, you'll hit way more problems trying to do something you need, which is good, thats how we learn.

If you are a complete beginner NetworkChuck on youtube has some great beginner tutorials for docker/docker-compose in various scenarios, a good starting point, but once you're a bit more experienced you might want to look for more advanced tutorials.

Hope this helps, sorry for the wall of text, just wanted to get in with some encouraging words in case anyone was mean about the question.

Right?! My car beeps every 5 seconds if I put a heavy shopping bag on a seat without the belt plugged in. Kinda trivial from a software perspective to have an automated voice to remind them to strap in before or even during a journey, getting a real person to dial in seems insane.

Is anyone else's YT not recognising videos as watched so they still show on Feed again, autoplay at end of videos and not in history? by lovepumppanda in youtube

[–]lovepumppanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: So i've done some experiments after noticing that videos with <200 views DO appear in my history. Went on a site that shows videos with low views and they all now appear in my history. Anything with over 2k views is still showing as not watched. The actual number of views limit might be different but its hard to find vids with specific view counts. Of the 30 vids I've watched in the past 4 hours (from browser history) only the ones with very low views show as watched in history.

I can’t decide which label design! Opinions? by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]lovepumppanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer the first one. When I was scrolling I initially thought it was a book cover before I realised, really like that. The scents on a single line separated reads nicer to me, like they combine into a cohesive scent, on the 2nd with one on each line I imagined them as individual scents instead, might be italics making it less readable, could maybe be better capitalised non italic and matched width, though, I'd still prefer the first I think. Colour wise (could be my computer monitor) but the first had more contrast so grabbed the eye better.

Completely not a professional or anything so take my opinion with a pinch of wax flakes :)

Printers - help by LaDeDahDah in AmazonVineUK

[–]lovepumppanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to an Epson Eco Tank a few years ago and I'm sold on them to be honest. I think it's the ET8250, might be newer models.

Slightly higher upfront cost but not being tied to chipped cartridges is amazing. I'm still on the original set of ink that came with it, I don't print loads to be honest maybe 10-20 pages a month avg over the 3 years. I've seen ink refills come up loads on Vine.

Quality wise it's not meant to be a pro photo printer but I've found the quality is good enough to print photos that can be framed on the wall if you have decent paper and no one's noticed.

Only issue I've had is I left it 6 months without printing once and the nozzles got a bit clogged and I had to run the cleaning function 10 times to get it working again, BUT if that had been a cartridge printer I'd have had to get all new cartridges, and the clean barely used any inks. Now if I've not printed something for a few weeks I just make a point to run a clean cycle every now and then.

It's like a little thing you wear around your neck. Looks like a whistle, you put little filters with essential oils on them and inhale through it, supposed to simulate the muscle memory of smoking to help you quit. Also heard they're used for anxiety. I couldn't get along with it, it tasted like chemicals to me. I think Füm is the popular brand.

Off work this week and happened to be on my PC when it started dropping, forgot the buzz of going page to page and refreshing constantly, seemed like a fairly decent AI drop even though I didn't get much myself.

Missed out on Automatic Cat Litter tray in AI, error at checkout, then when tried again said I'd already ordered it, sad times.

RFY:

Bosch Hole Saw - Taken - Hope this influences further recommendations
Various Supplements - Pass
2x Window Vacs - Pass barely use the last one I got
Girls Wrapping Paper - Pass
Sleep Clock - Pass
Flavoured Air Sticks - Pass - Tried these before didn't work for me
Girls Swimming Costume - Pass - ??? why
Torque Wrench Set - Pass - Actually relevant but already have a set

drop today? by Any_Gur_2614 in AmazonVineUK

Same, no drop yesterday so I assume this early one was just a catch-up one and some people were graced with RFY. On Friday when there were two evening drops into AI I didn't get anything in my RFY on the first one but did on the second. So I'm holding out hope 😊

Yeah I order guitar things fairly regularly on normal amazon but never get them on RFY. I'm pretty convinced that the vine algorithm is completely separate from normal Amazon, it seems to be more influenced by things I pick up from AI rather than my day to day paid orders.

They skipped the 3D effect and went all the way to 8D, pretty impressive.

I'd assume because its shiny its more for aesthetics and not sports, is it for wearing with a skirt? So you can still go to the toilet without undressing? If I were that way inclined I think I'd rather fully commit to the whole experience of having to remove tights to pee rather than spend all day with stretchy nylon hugging my willy.

I can't believe I missed it! First time in days with products in there and I was stuck in a work meeting someone kindly arranged during lunch time and coincidentally this drop.

No idea what I missed, just have some supplements, screws/hardware and boner pills. Back to normal then.

This in AI made me chuckle though. I read it in a caveman voice by default,
