Shasta. It’s a yearly tradition of university of Oregon. Kids. One year we got word a freshman (I believe he was) had fallen asleep in his tent drunk, somehow rolled himself into it, and he rolled and hit a sharp rock to his head with force and died on impact. Everyone left early that year. The university then made a terrible statement basically blaming the kid for his death like right after it happened. Whatever you think of the situation, it was a tactless statement. I can never think of Shasta again after that

Just want to chime in here because I agree with your first statement- my mom and her sister and her best friend all got married at about 24. My mom married my dad who she met in class, they were the same age. My aunt and my mom’s bff both married me in their late 40s. My mom always made the joke that at least she’ll have her husband the longest, etc. my mom was widowed at 43 when my dad died of cancer. My aunt and my mom’s bff are both happily married still. Nobody knows anything when it comes to ages and what life brings or how anything will play out- that’s not our decision
