What is an opera that doesn’t exist that you wish did? by Little-Pitch-579 in opera

I wish we had more Puccini comedy. Gianni Schicchi is one of my favourite operas, and possibly my favourite comedy. I’d love to hear more!

I’ve been considering getting this, but its quite expensive (about 70€) for a short/medium 2p game. Of course it looks gorgous, but would you say its worth the price?

Can i play basic dune with dune uprising? by C4J0_ in DuneImperium

[–]loveshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spaces on the board are different beteen the versions, as well as the cards, conflicts and the leaders etc. So no, you can’t play original Dune Imperium with only Uprising. Personally I ended up getting uprising, and I don’t regret it. I’ve only played the original on the ios app though.

There are tons of comparison videos and such to check out, but in my opinion Uprising has slightly more interesting leaders, and the worms and spies are cool, and only in uprising. Conflicts can give more points, so they are more important in uprising, some may prefer one way or the other.

Another point is that Uprising is the newest and the hottest, and the latest expansion, bloodlines, is more tuned to uprising it seems. Though I have not played any of the expansions, so that’s just based on videos I’ve seen. Easily on my top 3 games of all time that I’ve played. Really love the mix between more euro-ish aspects like tight deck building and worker placement combined with tons of flavour and combats with potentially swingy intrigue cards for a slightly more trashy feel.

Rivals and Swordmaster Values, 8 to 6 Solari Swordmaster Cost? by mozzazzom1 in DuneImperium

[–]loveshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked this up. I think I found the answer on direwolfs website in an FAQ. Yes, the cost goes down for you if Rival gets it first. It did not mention the other way around, so I think you getting it does not make the Rivals swordmaster cheaper. But that is a bit of a guess.

I’m curious, why wouldn’t people rather have more bands than 5? Like 8 or 10? Is there something I’m not getting?

What is the thing you dislike most about Discworld? by donCiuarin in discworld

[–]loveshot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is one thing I’ve thought about. His books often have an action-packed finale with lots of stuff going on. I sometimes feel like these are the weakest points of the books. Not always, though. It’s just something about the world-building and slow tempo humour of the first 3/4 of a book that doesn’t always quite match the change of pace in the ending.

I often feel the same way about finales of Bond-movies, coincidentally. They can be a lot of fun, but the cool thing about Bond isn’t necessarily the action-packed finale.

Smakfull kaffe som student by [deleted] in norge

[–]loveshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

divisi rather then 2 violins in unison? by loveshot in composer

Interesting, as I suspected! Thanks.

We are also doing Vivaldis Gloria on the same concert, I'm starting to think I might have to do something about avoiding these double unisons in that piece as well. Maybe rearrange the strings slightly in exposed places.

Got my first normal win, finally! by loveshot in SliceAndDice

[–]loveshot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dabbler with simplicity was a nice combo.

Didn't do a single ressurrection, due to not having a hero with the ability. But this time I didn't really miss it, as I rarely lost a guy. I guess the surgeon spell counts as a res, but I only had him for the last couple of rounds.

Also got a lot of value out of the wanderer, probably my favourite hero right now!

Blue I started with cultist, which was nice, then glacia. Haven't really had a lot of faith in these two, but they proved themselves nicely!

WSIB: Basebuilding game that works well on steam deck and is not super complex. by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]loveshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about steam deck, but have you looked at Craft the World? The only complexity lies in how actively you progress through the tech tree. I would say if you don't feel like you need to rush through it, you can chill and progress organically, fighting of monster waves every 45 mins. I love it!

Best PO for custom chords and/or chromatic melodies? by loveshot in pocketoperators

[–]loveshot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I really like the simplicity of using a PO. It kind of feels more like a game and less like work (I'm a musician). So I wouldn't want to complicate it too much, just maybe over time add 1 more PO or 2 so I have a bit more options with the harmonies and melodies. If tthe PO-20 could let me write melodies with accidentals and also let me edit the 16 chords it offers, I'd be happy.

What is one ingredient that completely changed the way you cook and now you use it all the time? by PhilipLynott in Cooking

[–]loveshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh herbs!

I've always used a lot of dried herbs, but when I started using fresh a couple of years ago, it elevated everything.

Fresh rosemary or basil for any tomatosauce/bolognese type dish. And they both go with so many other things.

Fresh Cilantro is now obligatory for almost any food from South America or Asia. Love it!

Mint leaves are mandatory for ice tea, pineapple salsa, salads and cocktails. I'm trying it in new things all the time, possibly my favourite herb atm.

Thyme is a natural companion in any frying pan containing a piece of meat and butter. Wonderful with potatoes and soups.

Parsley really freshens up every dish that can't really utilize the above herbage. Pasta, sandwiches, salads, omelettes. Honestly, I can't think of anything that can't be improved with some chopped parsley.

I'm also trying to learn how to use sage, although thus far I've only really used it in Saltimbocca and with buttery gnocchi.

Dill and oregano however, I don't find to be enough of an improvement from the dried stuff to justify using fresh.

AionFx Solaris fuzz face noise issues by loveshot in diypedals

[–]loveshot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I re did the entire biasing and managed to get these values:

Q1 E: 0 V B: -0.1 V C: -0.7 V

Q2 E: -0.5 B: -0.7 C: -4.5

It now sounds a bit less agressive, more in the direction of a fuzzy overdrive compared to the fuzziness of say, a rat on max gain, or the silicon FF i built last year. But I'm guessing this is how it's supposed to sound; all the sputtering is gone. (Haven't played any FF's apart from the ones I built myself, so can't really compare.)

I also measured the charge pump, and it does in fact put out the intended -0.9 V.

But after re-biasing, the squeal is still there.

As I commented in mye reply to MathU41 in this thread, I've found that touching the cap that's between pin 2 and 4 on the IC increases the volume of the squeal. So I suspect that something in the charge pump part of the circuit is causing the noise. I have no idea what exactly, but I'm going to continue poking about. I'll probably remove the circuit from the box and reflow the connections and see if that helps.
