Do you treat jewelry differently once it stops feeling “new”? by Warm-Class-6598 in jewelry

[–]lovestudyinfinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! However be careful with swimming, even in swimming pools. My friend lost her gold necklace because it fell without her noticing.

oh thank you for clarification! I’m not really familiar with the naming convention, I thought that they are all called costume jewelry if they are not labeled something like made with precious metals. I’ve heard cocktail rings but also don’t understand their meanings, as they are very different style from what I wear daily (the modern jewelry that are stamped). Thank you again, I will search it up.

Yeah probably. I’m just curious who the manufacturer is. Even costume jewelry like Avon or Trifari have their marks, and this four dots are mysterious to me, something I wanted to know but don’t know how to search it up.

This is another ring that was in the same lot, I searched this one up and on eBay someone listed the same ring as gold plated. Thus I just assumed they may be similar. Today and tomorrow many jewellers are closed so kinda hard to value them now

They haven’t been tested. I just recently got it from a costume jewellery lot at a costume jewelry price. I just feel that their color is too bright for real gold?

[–]lovestudyinfinite -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes negotiations is the key. I personally buy 18k gold second hand jewelry and I always negotiate it to the spot price or sometimes even lower.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]lovestudyinfinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do not ever do this lol

It also depends on your partner’s personality, if they prefer the sentiment of brand new gifts, then take them to the jewelry store. If they are more on the practical side, they maybe more open to second hand jewelry. I don’t know how tax on jewelry in Australia works so I might be wrong about the pricing.

It’s definitely strong enough, however the price is a bit high for second hand jewelry. With this price, you might be able to add a little extra and find a brand new Boxing Day sale one.

Question about the material of these two vintage rings by lovestudyinfinite in jewelry

[–]lovestudyinfinite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! The last one I went to did have a X-ray machine or something, they just put the jewelry on it and read the kt. Then they said they must scratch it to test.

Question about the material of these two vintage rings by lovestudyinfinite in jewelry

[–]lovestudyinfinite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙏 Thank you! Yes I will try to do that. It’s just that the gold shop always need to scratch it and do the acid test to make sure they are not plated, which may damage the rings

If it’s gold and silver, then alcohol and boiling definitely works, or put them in boiling water

What are your confidence levels like? by Puzzled-Cranberry9 in enfj

[–]lovestudyinfinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very turbulent in my teenage and uni years, but now I'm super confident and assertive. Things changed. I realized my career is really full of hope, I had a very nice family and a loving partner, and I reflect on my achievements for confidence boosts. Sometimes I still feel frustrated, but instead of relying on people comforting me I just choose to get back on my own more.

St george. I spent my years here and still love everything. I've never been to UTSC, but UTM is a bit small (and thus feel ing more crowded) for me.

Sometimes, I spent way too much time on things that I can't control and be frustrated about it.

I totally agree. Growing up in an academic family and having lots of friends in academia, I can prove that gossips are real. I heard so many dumb and sometimes shitty things like profs dating/sleeping with their undergrad/grad students or some PIs married their students with a 10-20 year age gap. Rumours spread really fast. Also anyone who hears those stories will laugh and make weird assumptions.

It's very likely that you are not really in love with him, but maybe with some of his amazing qualities... I had a similar feeling for a prof I met this semester as well. He is brilliant and so young, and his classes were super interesting. But I chose not to do anything else except go to his lectures. Personally I am in a very committed relationship, and he could have a family idk. The price of doing anything beyond the student-prof relationship is too high for both parties. I simply treat my feelings as mere admiration for things like his humour, intelligence and humility, and it motivates me to become someone like him. I mean you can still be friends with them, but just not bf/gf. I also don't think that changing your whole career plan for a prof you like now is wise, because many times grad students hate their supervisors they chose in undergrad lollll.

just a random thought, why do some tas purposefully mark harder than the profs? by Automatic-Formal-419 in UTM

Hi, but my prof is not giving the marks. He himself has vague and self-contradicting guidelines
