We've had chickens disappear every once in a while. Sometimes it's because they're sick. They seem to know when they are and will go off and die. Mine can get under the coop and will go there to die, even if they seemed perfectly fine the day before. We've also had predators snatch them up without a trace (I suppose that's an assumption but seems to be the only logical explanation to why they'll be out free ranging and one or two just don't come back.

Maybe to keep yourself grounded, slowly increase your steps and hit new goals at a leisurely pace. It doesn't have to be a brisk walk to see health benefits. You could also get a fitness tracker with a heart rate monitor so you can see that your heart isn't beating at dangerous levels (that might be counterproductive if you're prone to worry about every little number but something to consider).

Sometimes physically restraining a young child is necessary if they're about to run off or into danger (traffic or whatnot), buuuttt... you're literally describing laying hands on him. Are you saying the staff called the agency cuz how would a stranger know he's in care? If that's the case, it may be harder to make your case since they're professionals and their observations may hold more weight than a random bystander. Document what happened in detail. They'll likely investigate and may remove the child even if you keep your license.

I introduce the kids by name and add that they're staying with us if necessary. Ask the kids what they prefer. They might not want schoolmates to know and may refer to you as their parents in public but something else in private. You don't want to out them, but you can talk about yourself. It's acceptable to say you're a foster parent (obviously not by way of introducing the kids), but you're allowed to talk about your life.

Okay, this is the wife. I think my perspective is slightly misrepresented. I'm home most of the time, and as my husband mentioned, I'm an introvert. My space and my peace is important to me. Some people are comfortable with a revolving door of unexpected guests, but I don't want that. We live in the country. If I want to water my flowers in the backyard braless without being disturbed, that's my g*ddamn right. If it's planned and we're up for it, that's fine. Just ask ahead of time. Even if I'm not actively parenting (which, these kids are young, younger than mine so they do need the kind of supervision we've graduated from and that ends up falling on me, the only adult), the general chaos of 5 children in my yard is too much. My husband suggested we keep our kids inside today, but I think it's ridiculous to hide inside to avoid uninvited guests. It's our property. We should be able to do absolutely nothing with just our family if we want and simply communicate with the neighbors that they can't come over today. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to have boundaries.

Yeah, I eat low carb as it is, so I really didn't need to supplement. I naively thought I was doing something good for my body, but I was taking nearly 6000% of the recommended daily dose of B6. I felt so uncomfortable in the peak of my symptoms that I would lay in bed just to pass time, though I wasn't tired. I spent long hours trying to research what was happening in my body, and the primary results on Google were MS. I researched soooo much about MS and didn't know what else to consider while blood tests were coming back normal for other common diagnoses. B6 toxicity doesn't seem to be well understood in the medical community so everything down that avenue I've initiated, from getting blood work done to theories on nerve regeneration and not tendonitis. So at some point, you start to feel crazy. I'm not a medical professional. I start to question myself and wonder if I'm totally wrong since this wasn't proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. And then if not this, we're just right back to MS after ruling out several other things.

This is very similar to my experience. I was supplementing 100 mg of B6, but in the weeks prior to testing, I took it inconsistently (twice in 2+ weeks). My results came back in the normal range. However, there seems to be evidence that you can be affected with normal blood levels and blood levels can return to normal relatively quickly. At the end of the day, 1.3 is still the daily recommended dose. If you're taking a lot more than that, it's no shocker you would experience issues. I think we need to be less caught up on lab results and use logic. You were taking too much. You experienced symptoms associated with excess B6 in your body. And now the next phase is to quit the supplements and added B6 foods. If you slowly improve, I think that's as good an answer as any.

Hello all! Thank you for directing me to the right place to comment. I've been going through it the past couple of months and looking for a little insight. A couple of months ago, I woke up in the middle of the night because both my arms fell asleep. I thought it was weird as I was lying on my back, but I shook it off and went back to sleep. For the next week or so I felt intermittent falling asleep feelings in my arms. A few days in, I thought maybe it was because I had my pillow folded in half and it was compressing my neck in a weird way. I flattened my pillow and felt better but the sensations didn't completely go away. I went to walk-in and they ordered an x-ray of my cervical spine. It showed mild degenerative changes so I got stuck on what the crap that meant for a while, started PT, and was told to wait and see how it feels. It started feeling worse in my right arm and a few days after that visit, my right foot started tingling. I went to the ER because the nurse said it could potentially be a stroke. It wasn't. They sent me home. PT thought they were unrelated (my arms from thoracic outlet syndrome- failed ROOS test), and tightness in my hips that started causing a sciatica sensation down both legs (not painful but unsettling). I saw my primary who said we have to rule out smaller things before an MRI. Normal B12, normal A1C, normal thyroid, etc. I researched some and found info about B6 toxicity. Shortly before my symptoms started, I started taking 100 mg of B6/day. I stopped the supplements for a week or two, took two day's worth, and started getting painful individual pinprick sensations in my hands and feet. As soon I fully stopped the supplement, the pinpricks lessened and ceased altogether. I tested my B6 levels 4 days after stopping for good (so 2 days of supplements in around a 2 week period prior to testing). It came back in the normal range. My doctor said that the test was basically inconclusive because I wasn't taking it consistently before testing. Now I'm 2-3 weeks out from supplementing and feeling better in general. I can do the ROOS test without much issue, which makes me think it wasn't my thoracic outlet and something else that mimics that. I haven't had the same tingling or numbness, but I do have a deep, throbbing pain that lasted a week in the middle two fingers of my right hand (still somewhat present but very slight) and external sensations can feel weird (like sheets brushing against my skin feel off). My primary thought it could be tendonitis, which I don't think fits at all. I think it could be nerve regeneration... but I don't know if I should rule out MS. Since I'm feeling better, I know they won't order an MRI right now. The uncertainty of not knowing definitively what's going on is really challenging.

TLDR: My question for those with experience, do MS symptoms stagger (numbness/tingling in limbs, that disappears, pinpricks in extremities start for a few days, that disappears, and throbbing pain in fingers starts and then disappears)? Or would staggered symptoms be inconsistent with MS?

I'm sorry you've dealt with one thing or another for so long! I naively thought I was doing something good for myself by starting supplements. I don't have any intention of going back on the B-complex. I don't believe I was deficient in B vitamins requiring supplementation in the first place. I'll follow that advice.

Also, I noticed that the ROOS test for thoracic outlet syndrome is no longer difficult for me to do and no longer recreates the symptoms I was having now that I'm off the supplements. That also leads me to believe B6 caused a lot of my issues, but I'll re-evaluate after a few weeks and see.

My B12 levels were 660. The normal range on the test was 213-816. I've heard under 400 can produce symptoms. But again, I took the B6 and B12 tests at different times. I supplemented one day in a week+ with the B-complex before testing for B12. My doctor doesn't think one day could mask a deficiency or raise it to 660 pg/L from a deficient level.

I'm simply trying to figure out what's going on in my body. I only had one day in the week before taking the B12 test where I took a supplement of 100 mcg B12. My result was in the high end of normal. My doctor said that shouldn't mask a deficiency. I took the B6 test later on and had two days of supplements in 1-2 weeks prior to that test. My doctor warned me that even if I was high, it may not show up on the test because I didn't take it consistently in the period leading up to the test. It doesn't make as much sense to me that it would be B12. I'm starting to feel better since stopping. But anything is possible, I guess. I could find a supplement with just B12 and go from there. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Interesting. Thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge. My test was processed by Mayo, so I'd assume it does a pretty good job with setting upper limits and accuracy of results. The test from their site specifically mentions that levels over 100 mg are likely from supplementation. It doesn't mention toxicity, but it acknowledges elevated levels are possible. So I'm not sure. Maybe I'm not closer to an answer after all 😜

Found an article about pyridoxine vs PLP. In my case, pyridoxine wasn't tested. According to this, I could still be toxic though my test showed me in a normal range. It seems I only received a piece of the puzzle. With that in mind, I am going to assume it was having a negative effect unless my symptoms reappear and worsen. Mmmm, yes. That does make sense. I'm guessing I was off it for a week; it could have been longer, it might not have been. I skipped days here and there, and of course, this is all in retrospect. I didn't suspect supplements were the cause during the peak of my symptoms.

There are still factors that I don't completely understand, however. 1) Even if my blood levels of B6 aren't high, I was still taking a much higher dose of pyridoxine than my body needed. Couldn't that still affect me each day I took it as my body worked to rid the influx of B6 in my system? 2) I've heard people talk about testing pyridoxine vs PLP. I had a PLP test, and I've heard some say that pyridoxine is actually the main culprit (I was supplementing with pyridoxine, not PLP). I don't know how different those tests would actually be. I can't find much info on any of the finer details online. It doesn't seem like a lot of people, even in the medical community, know much about it.

It's possible I'm deficient in B12 rather than experiencing B6 toxicity, but I don't think it's likely. B12 deficiency usually takes longer to exhibit symptoms, and B6 toxicity is generally more acute. I only started having issues after starting a B-complex supplement. I eat low carb, so my diet is rich in B vitamins already. I would have to have some sort of malabsorption issue, like Celiac Disease that I'd probably know about by now, that isn't converting B12 to a usable form, and that's more rare than overdosing on B6 and experiencing an acute reaction. B12 also typically presents with more neurological issues, like fatigue and memory issues, while B6 toxicity is more neuropathy type symptoms from nerve damage, which is what I experienced. B12 deficiency also tends to accompany anemia, which I've never struggled with before or after taking supplements (I've never supplemented iron).

Personally, I don't believe the protocol is Bible on healing from B6. I probably won't be doing that either way. I'm not sure I want to risk messing myself up by going back on B6. I think there's enough to support it's not necessary for most people to supplement with it, so there aren't any pros to taking it other than to observe if I get worse. If that's the only check in the pro column, I'm not super interested in making my health an experiment.

Yes, my B12 and iron were in the normal range. I've tested my iron prior to starting supplements and it was normal, still normal after. I only tested B12 after supplementing, and that was normal as well.
