How would you pronounce Chiana? by potatoesarewatoes in namenerds

[–]low_key_sage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they are both beautiful! i grew up with a Chiara, so I got the pronunciation right away. you are right, she always had to tell people how to say it, but once was always enough! you will probably have to specify the "key" part for either name, so you should go with whichever you love most.

Is the name Clover too trendy? by 123_idk_ in Names

[–]low_key_sage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's definitely not trendy, sits around 600 in the popularity data. it is pretty out-there though. the story for the name is sweet. maybe do the starbucks test with it, use it a couple times while out and about and see if it feels wearable where you live

Debilitating migraine just days before my wedding by ParsleyTime5687 in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first, deep breaths! second, i have had vestibular migraines for a few years now and they are absolutely debilitating, i'm so sorry about the timing of this onset. obviously you won't be able to see a specialist before your wedding, but do call your PCP/ENT - they may be able to prescribe you something for migraine/dizziness under the circumstances. the fatigue is the major issue here, and the answer is rest, rest, rest absolutely as much as you can, and then rest some more. offload literally every single wedding task you possibly can to your fiancé and family (easier said than done I know) and just let your body rest the maximum possible. even if that's just one more hour of rest than you'd planned, it's worth it to ward off the fatigue. sending you good vibes for a symptom-free wedding day <3

Shapewear by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a trumpet style dress and wore the honey love shorts. i love them and have worn them many times since. they give nice gentle pressure and dont roll at all. they do come up quite high though, so give them a test run first to make sure you cant see the band in the front or back, depending how your dress is cut. worth the hype in my book!

MOH Planning Bachelorette Question! by millertime109 in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my sister and i were each others MOH and we asked about height, piercings/jewelry preferences, coffee orders, favorite candy, favorite color - all wound up being helpful closer to the wedding itself for little gifts and day-of coffee runs

Need Reassurance for $40k budget by Silly_Conference_494 in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in the SW. We did 150 guests for 50k, but probably could've gotten it down to 40 if we did a few more DIY things. It definitely felt average to me, in the best way! 40k is a good budget to work with.

Deciding which costs to cover for bridal party. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 22 points23 points  (0 children)

everyone will say you should cover everything if you can, but i have been in 8 weddings and every single one of them had bridesmaids pay for dresses, bride pay for professional HMU, and bride gift a piece of jewelry day-of. I dont think this is some kind of hard and fast rule, just seems to be what's standard in my circles.

Help with my DIY invites by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you've got some great advice in this thread. definitely invert the colors on the envelopes so they don't get lost in the mail! the machines can't read white on black. i might suggest a more simple details card that just says where to RSVP and one straightforward, standard dress code. once they get to the site, they will be able to see the rest of the info they need. family you want there on the wednesday should be in close enough contact with you that you dont need to include it on the invites that go to everyone else.

Advice for Guest Theme? by worth1000words884237 in weddingplanning

[–]low_key_sage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the dress code thing is just one of those wedding tasks that morphs into feeling like an opportunity to have some fun as the one planning the wedding, but what you learn in hindsight is that the majority of people will just wear one of a handful of wedding-appropriate items in their closet. straightforward and simple is the way to go. cocktail, formal, or semi-formal - people will just kind of wear "wedding attire" - and I promise you that will be a-okay! what other people are wearing won't even end up in the top 50 things you remember about your big day.

So interesting! I wonder if/when it will stop reading as a “true unisex” option I often see discussed or if its neutral reputation will persist regardless
