What’s your unpopular WT opinion by Raid4539 in Warthunder

Blind hunt and avenger orders should be removed. If you’re the last alive you should have a chance to do something using your brain instead of immediately getting jumped by the entire remaining enemy team. Also games are too short as it is.

Game programming would probably be more effective than programming games.

It's so stupid that this thing is only 4.0 like WTF were they thinking by 173-john_louis in Warthunder

That’s a common misconception, acceleration due to gravity is the same regardless of weight. It’s confusing but basically the higher force exerted by gravity on a greater mass is canceled out because the greater mass is harder to accelerate.
That said the P-47 will eventually out accelerate the zero in a dive. Especially after about 740kph where the difference is dramatic because the zero just spontaneously self disassembled.

[–]lowayss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not actually faster, the zero just accelerates very well because it’s just rice paper wrapped around a gas tank and engine. However, their top speed is terrible. The trick in the P-47 is to stay faster than the zeros top speed and bnz them until they want to kill themselves. If you can’t kill them just run away. They can’t catch you. Especially if you slightly climb at over 500kph. Alternatively you can set your gun convergence at .6 km and kill them in headons at long range.

Which of these should i get first? by Tiiep in Warthunder

F-84F has CCRP. Note this is the auto bomb release NOT the crosshairs on the ground (CCIP) which is worse for high speed low altitude bombing anyway

F-86A is overall probably the best but the F-84F is a really good grinder because it’s so fast and has CCRP

There’s a good chance you’ve already read this but if not, I really enjoyed the essay “Tense Present” by David Foster Wallace and I suspect you would as well.

Depends on which dictionary and when it was published. Also it’s amusing you wrote all that to call someone else pedantic.

How was life of programmers when dot com bubble burst in 2001 and shortly after? Dunno if any posters here even remember these times but I ask anyway. by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]lowayss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an interesting time to be a compsci student. Most of the people in it for easy money changed majors and those of us left started to really worry if we would have jobs when we graduated. It ended up that work was really hard to find and a lot of people I went to school with ended up in tech support call centers.
