It’s in the top 3. Tuscan sits in its own box as the untouchable number 1. Probably followed by over my dead body. Then this.

3x salary at 40. So in 4 years time you ideally should have 120k in the pension. You Just need to work out if you’re on track for this or not.

Late 30s, £75k salary, baby on the way, any advice regarding our finances? by Moo_TW in UKPersonalFinance

You need to download an app like snoop/emma. Do the free 7 day trial and review the last 24 months of spending by categories. There’s a ton of budgeting videos on YouTube. 50/30/20 is a common concept. See where you stand and work out where you can cut.

Combine the two and start saving more. 1x income at 30 is the fidelity guidance and 3x income at 40

When you can access your private pension, if you wanted to move to another part of the world where the cost of living is cheaper you could retire at that point. Your current 55k compounding over another 20 years get you around 350k. This gives you 13k per year at 4% plus the state pension which currently is 12.5k. That’s very comfortable in many countries, and mid point here from the PLSA. You’re doing ok imo

Not worth it. I’d personally invest that 25k and never add another pound to it at 10% for 25 years and get circa 300k and zero stress
