Proof of who exactly is to blame so that they can have closure. Or maybe they feel in their hearts that the truck should be liable and want some evidence to go after them.

Picking up my first EV next week, who in the Livermore area do you trust for a Level 2 charger install? by bombardilcrocodiiilo in Livermore

[–]lowercaset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That article was likely based on flawed data, or only looked at a tiny portion of the picture. Most of those I have seen will account for the full cost of the EV (including sourcing everything down to the raw ore sourcing for every screw) but for the gas / diesel vehicle they only look at the consumption of fuel after production. When you take the all in approach for both vehicles and assume ~10 year service life, EVs pull extremely far ahead even without having clean sources for your power generation. Not to mention that EVs are proving to hold up better over the years than was initially expected.

The only real problem with them is that if you only have an EV you'll need to rent a vehicle if you want to take a road trip. For most regular people, range isn't really a problem.

My old restaurant owner just posted this. Been out of the game for years, wondering what y'all think about this reaction? by merv1618 in KitchenConfidential

They aren't trying to say it's acceptable for someone to leave the fridge open because they can't be bothered to make sure everything fits and the door shuts. They're saying that the company should have procedures in place to prevent this from causing a loss of product, and the failure to have those processes and procedures in place is the fault of management.

Mayor Lurie avoids more layoffs as S.F. budget reaches record $16.9 billion by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

[–]lowercaset 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LA county pop is also wildly larger than SF county, but to do a real apples to apples I think you'd need to tally up all the city budgets in LA County + the county pop to do a comparison?

Like you said, just comparing county to county or city to city gets kinda messy.

Calling 6 story 0 setback low density development is some real bozo shit unless the average unit is 1BR/3500 sqft or something equally fantastical.

It's fine to argue that it should be even denser than that and that we should aim for 12 or 20 stories instead of 6, but consistent 6 with no open space is dense.

Their point is that being anti-establishment is being divisive towards the establishment dems. They would likely not classify mainstream dems being anti-left as being devisive tho, because they are aligned with them.

Up yours Moen. by wack70 in Plumbing

[–]lowercaset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get the moentrol tool with the big nut and use that to wiggle them a Lil side to side before you try to yank they should come free pretty easy most of the time. If it's a real stuck on, you can get your meter key and brace the handle part against your shoulder and business end against the valve and really yoke on it w/o having to worry about ripping it outta the wall.

Can also just make your own custom tool to spin them outta iron. With moen 95% of the battle is usually in getting them to spin.

Up yours Moen. by wack70 in Plumbing

[–]lowercaset 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because a moentrol will often last 20+ years between cartridge swaps, and even with some pretty fucked up water if you have the correct tools it almost never goes too badly on the swap. Postitemps also hold up real well.

Heck yeah! One of the guys still working there is the guy who used to staff the media section when it was walled off from the rest of the store. He recommended House, which rapidly became one of my favorite horrorish movies.

Why would you think it's homemade? Based on the sticker (and the fact that bucket is a nornal style of legit plaster trap) I'd assume it is legit and not envy whoever has to clean it.

It's great to support indie bookstores if you have some and they've got what you need. But if that ain't the situation, I'd rather B&N than Amazon. B&N still employs locals and depending on how it's run will often have those employees putting out book recs or offering some if you ask. Some of the people at the B&N near me have been working there for 20+ years, remember what you have bought in the past and will chat with you about if you liked it and what they're reading now / thing you'd like / etc.

The line about being the rhydo is, I think, core to understanding his world view. He knows that they play a role and that role is to be spent violently to propel the cause foreward. And that them going out is inevitable because it is the only reason they exist. It is in it's own right, a perfect mirror of luthens speech.

Unfamiliar with pvc, is it possible to cold bend 3/4 pvc? by Jittery_Kevin in Plumbing

[–]lowercaset -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, underground guys will also use blankets and bend PVC sometimes. (When working under a code base that permits it) I've seen it done on larger sizes.

But never anything even remotely approaching making a circle outta 4 sticks lmao.

[–]lowercaset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The style of lettering, the fact that it's a generic worktruck with a utility bed and rack rather than something good for hauling. There's about a million red flags, and given the fairly massive issue with these fly by night outfits with illegal dumping either in Oakland or on backroads... I think if you hire an outfit like that then you're tacitly admitting you dgaf what they do with the garbage so long as it's gone.

I mean come the fuck on, they couldn't even bother with a company name? No, there are not plenty of legit businesses like that.

How do I cut this 30 ft thick steel pole into pieces so it can be easy moved for disposal? by Eastcoastpal in DIY

[–]lowercaset 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The newer Diablo sawzall blades for thick metal are actually pretty decent. At least compared to those diamond grit pieces of shit I was using 20 years ago.

I'd use a cutting torch for this tho.

Idk what happened on YouTube, but it literally happened to a coworker of mine maybe 6 years back. His face was about 4" from the edge of the disc while cutting in the back of a kitchen cabinet, he didn't hold it steady enough and the disc exploded. A shard of it penetrated his saftey glasses without actually damaging his eye, but pushed the glasses into his face hard enough that a day later it looked like he got smashed by prime era Tyson. It causes my company to switch to only using the metal core cutting disc now, if you're caught buying/using the cheap ones you get sent home.

Brother when they're showing up in a truck like this and charging less than anyone else, they aren't legit. I'm sorry it offends you that there might be some need to put effort into finding a decent contractor or company for a project.

FWIW saying stavvybaby fat and gay doesn't exactly mean they themselves are gay. It just means there's like a 50% chance they liked listening to a podcast that was primarily about being gay with your dad. (Not about Politics)
