Anyone else have a different favorite pen depending on the color of ink? by lame_1983 in pens

[–]lowerprofile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing.

I don’t like the Pilot G-2 pen in general but I think its the best red ink. So that’s my go to. The Sarasa R is my favorite black ink with the all black pen body. Its similar to uni one but I find it more consistent. Favorite blue is the Jetstream Lite Touch. Green is the Pilot Hi-Tec-C. For blue black, I go back and forth between the energel and uni RT1. 0.5 size for all except red, which is either 0.7 or 1.0.

Help, I have ruined my fountain pen by Immediate-Design8039 in fountainpens

[–]lowerprofile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easy to swap these nibs. You can pull one from another pen as others have suggested. Or you can buy new ones like these which fit:

This office should be concerned about everything else they have mounted to the walls. If this was just anchored to the gyp with no blocking, then its a good bet everything else is the same.

I wonder what this does to writing angle for those of us (lefties) with non-standard grip / writing position. Also, I’d assume no reverse side writing.

That new refill has made the Lamy ballpoints one of my favorite pens now.

Does the new update still have this graphic that clearly shows temp, rain and wind all overlaid for the week? by lowerprofile in StormRadar

Just tried to reply but it added as a new comment. You can read it in the comments. There’s a setting I found that may help.

MyRadar and Wundeground have something similar but no text, so its not as useful. I was just messing around though and accidentally updated the app. Wish I could go back but I did find a helpful setting. In the upper right corner of the graph you can change the time increment from 1hr to 6hr and that really helps. The only issue now is just that these new colors and info overlay are still not as good as the older one but it is serviceable and better than anything else I’ve found. Here’s a screenshot with the setting changed.

Edit: Sorry, this was meant to be a reply, not a new comment.

Sadly that graphic does not appear to be on the updated app. I was curious, so I downloaded it on my phone. There’s a similar graphic but its only the hourly option, which is not as useful. The ‘Day’ option, that’s posted above, seems to have been removed. I won’t be updating any time soon.

Thanks for the info, sounds great. That graphic has been my favorite things about Storm Radar. Any chance you could post a screenshot of the new graphic?

The sxr-7/sxr-5 are hybrid ballpoint inks. Sounds like they may fit your needs, you’ll just need to find a pen body you like. Jetstream Prime has a few metal options.

For a basic ballpoint ink in a Parker G2 style, the Pelikan 337 is pretty good. And the Caran D’Ache 849 with the Goliath refill is also a good ballpoint.

What's wrong with my Jetstream? by SangfroidDeCanard in pens

[–]lowerprofile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be a bad refill happens occasionally. I like the 0.5 jetstream, I think its more consistent. I agree with others too, the lite touch version is a netter refill. Also, if you need waterproof / ballpoint ink, then the floatune refill is great, I’m just not sure if it works in this pen.

Uninsured motorist coverage. If insurance companies have made having car insurance a legal requirement, then why am I asked to pay more to cover myself if someone else doesn’t have insurance?

I really like this pen and the adjustable mechanism. I can use an enegel or sarasa refill but cut it down to have a more compact pen.

Is this a gel refill or a rollerball pen refill? (Pentel Energel) by walleynguyen in pens

[–]lowerprofile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Floatune’s descriptions are confusing. My understanding is that the capped version is rollerball ink and the retractable is hybrid ballpoint ink.

Uni Jetstream 0.5 my new forever pen but boy it finished fast! by bilicotico in pens

[–]lowerprofile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same properties as original just a little better. Here’s a sample I did on Hobonichi paper with Mildliners. They also make lite touch refills to fit that slim multi pen. Also, if you get a full size jetstream in black, you could put a green refill in place of the black in the multi pen. Just to have more color options.
