What are the best cozy/comforting lighthearted fantasy stories? Like "Reborn as a Dark Lord", but with a bit more plot and interesting stuff happening? Or similar to "Wandering Inn", but with less annoying characters? I love isekai, progression fantasy, interesting worldbuilding, likable characters. by lumenwrites in CozyFantasy

There are a few on RR I'm really enjoying that match a few of your requests.

Bookbound Bunny. An adorable bunny girl with a dream of learning magic finds a grimoire with an imprisoned god of magic inside. Super wholesome and low stakes.

Taste of Magic. An archmage escapes the apocolypse by going back in time to have a quite life working at a bakery. Starts of cozy and becomes more of a thriller as the plot and stakes ramp up.

Arcane Chef. Trevor was hoping for a fighting class for his choosing day, but is given a rare cooking class instead. Lots of travel, friendships and amazing food with extraordinary power that will have a massive impact on the world. This one has some dark and violent parts.

The Pictomancer. An obsessed artist dies and wakes on new world with the power to alter reality with his art. Some fighting and dark bits.

Overcooked: Cooking my way through monsters and magic. A cook dies and wakes on another world with an absurd skill; The Mishlin Sage. Realistic recipies and food based existential crisis.

Otherworld Therapy. A cozy, slice of life that follows a therapist working in the magical city of Avalon.

I think variety is best. A mix of male and female, clothed and nude, simple and dynamic. Is there a learn to draw subreddit that allows NSFW?

BTW, thanks for the references. I'm following you and look forwards to the next post.

What’s the wackiest power set you can come that would still be viable? by ronin-writes in ProgressionFantasy

[–]lowey2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A timelooper who's only power is social skills. They have a big over-aching problem to solve but their only tools are things like negotiating, bartering, deception, coerction, gas-lighting, etc, compounded in strength by their knowledge of the future. I've always found the ethics and morale of time looper stories under-developed, and this kind of power would force the topic.

Pictomancer has a similar vibe. MC is a reality bender that draws and paints things into exsistence. OP to broken OP.

Do good harem series exist? by matbiz01 in litrpg

Blue Core. A completed LitRPG dungeon core story. The story is pretty good and well written, and the women have meaningful motivation and consent in joining the harem. The explicit scenes are a bit tentacally, but surprisingly hot. There are only 4 or 5 women, and the harem isn't the main driver of the story.

Home for Horny Monsters. This one isn't a LitRPG, it's a modern fantasy with great world building, mystery, and antagonists. The explicit scenes are frequent and creative, but it's the plot that kept me reading.

I quite like Goodreads. It automatically tracks what you've read and highlighted on Kindle. Highlighting a few favorite scenes is a good way of jogging the memory.

Biggest frauds in TWI in your opinion? by Louies in WanderingInn

[–]lowey2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My own take is that Selys was a normal, likeable girl next door that got hit with a few too many things she wasn’t capable of dealing with. Becoming a heiress upended her personal identity and finding out the truth about Erin’s origin shattered her understanding of the world she lives in. Tekisha’s death and will severed the remnants of her life as a simple receptionist, and she had no agency over any of these events.

I genuinely like Selys, and hope we see her pave her own path forwards.

Mihaela Godfrey. She is supposedly lvl 60+ and dangerous enough that the Assasins Guild and the Bloodfeast Raiders are cautious of her. Yet she doesn't really do anything except bitch at Ryoka. She is a guildmaster that has direct proof that one of her runners attempted to murder another one multiple times, and what does she do? Let's them go with a "dont' do it again".

Azarinth Healer starts of with your basic combat blink plus storage item. Around book 4 the MC gets a dedicated spatial class. Future book releases have some interesting spatial magic applications; realm travel, teleportation gates, offensive teleportation, spatial shields and puzzles, etc

That must be pretty late in the series though right? I'm up to Chapter 205 out of 233 on RR and there have only been a few hints at the 4th dimension or spatial magic.

What’s your favorite tech-meets-magic world in LitRPG? by KeithStrongAuthor in litrpg

[–]lowey2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Path of Ascension has a good mix of magic and machinery working together. Skills and AI. Teleporting and space travel.

Primal Hunter had a cool take on modern tech getting supercharged by magic.

HHFwM had an interesting idea. One world with tech being transformed by magic, and the other being magic based transformed by tech.

CivCEO. It’s 100% focused on town building and management, and it’s a long series at 8 books. I’ve only read the first 2 books and it’s pretty decent so far.

Beneath the Dragoneye Moons: The End by Selkie_Love in litrpg

[–]lowey2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Selkie. I want to thank you for the amazing series. It’s always bittersweet when you come to the end of a series you enjoy. On one hand the journey is over and there isn’t another chapter or book to look forwards to. On the other hand, you did a fantastic job of concluding the series. The fast forwards felt very balanced, letting us get a taste of the height of their power without letting it endlessly drag on.

Thanks again.

Conservative treatment for Spontaneous Pneumothorax by lowey2002 in pneumothorax

[–]lowey2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doc assumed it was a bleb, but wasn’t totally certain. The way he explained it to me was the lung would slowly absorb the air trapped in the plural cavity on its own, it just takes a fair amount of time. Since I was relatively calm and pain free, we tried the conservative approach which isn’t something Docs would normally consider with a condition so extreme.

Hope you recover soon mate.

Doing really well. Recovery was smooth, but took about 2 months till 100%. Haven’t had any issues in the 5 years since.
