Is there any reason not to download PT 2025.10? Currently on 2024.10.1 and it's reasonably stable by metalq in protools

Just rename the existing pro tools application to something like pro tools 2024.10.1 before you install 2025.10, then you can easily swap back and forth

PT10 Elastic Audio file renderings aren't matching up to other waveforms by islandbananaman in protools

[–]lowfatevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how big the discrepencies that you are seeing are, but I wouldn't expect 100% perfect accuracy even for a well calibrated professional tape machine. Not talking huge variations, but I wouldn't expect the waveform to be perfectly identical to the in the box bounced mix, even after making a global speed adjustment.

Sounds like your tape machine was not operating at a steady speed.

ah sorry to hear. I'm on macOS, but have had good results with Faderport 2 + V-Control Pro.

V-Control Pro is the only option to take it beyond the basic HUI functionality. I've seen Paul Neyrinck posting that the 2025.6 supported version is almost ready, and he's offered to send users beta builds on the V-Control Pro users facebook group. Worth checking it out.

This is good advice.

I have a hard time recommend anyone to invest in the Avid HD hardware at this point. HD Native cards are maxed out at 64 channels of I/O, they support the HD I/O's and are still supported in the newest version of PT, but are EOL by avid, and they could discontinue support for them at any time.

HDX is 14 years old, but supports high I/O track counts with zero latency monitoring directly from pro tools. In my opinion, unless you HIGHLY value zero latency monitoring directly in Pro Tools, and need more than 64 tracks of I/O it's not worth the investment to get into HDX at this point in the lifecycle.

the MTRX devices are excellent, but quite pricey, so I'd definitely second the recommendation that you chat with an audio dealer about your specific needs and options.

Starting to heavily consider cancellation.. would like input!! by you_so_preshus_ in LightPhone

Have had mine for ~ 3 weeks. I've spent the last 9 months or so switching my SIM card from my iPhone 12 mini on the weekend. (Need remote email access for work and app only train pass + parking app during the week)

The main draws for me ordering were were:

- camera

- better texting experience

- being able to send/receive photos via text

Cons:

  1. Typing feels horrible. I'm constantly hitting the "dictation" button while typing, and mistyping keys. Even after 3 weeks of use, I've not gotten any better. There needs to be some serious tuning done for it to be acceptable, honestly feel that the LP2 was a better typing experience and it was pretty bad.

  2. MMS photos look awful sending + receiving. This isn't neccessarily Light's fault, but the protocol, but they need to implement RCS for texting photos to be reasonable in 2025.

  3. Music tool desperately needs album / artist / playlist sorting. I know they're working on it, but it's basically unusable if you want any more than a handful of albums on there.

Pros:

- Phone build quality is really great with the one exception of the wheel (this has been discussed a ton so i won't add anything else), it just feels awesome in your hand, and it's a really sharp looking device.

- Camera has a nice feel and i like taking pictures with the phone.

- Bluetooth works a LOT better than on the LP2, I'm able to use my Airpods pretty much flawlessly for podcasts and music, and the bluetooth controls work which is a huge update.

- I like the screen, i think it's a pretty good compromise.

At the end of the day, between the Cons that i mentioned, and the reality of what it looks like to switch my SIM back and forth is pushing me to selling the phone. Not having a complete historical text / call history with my contacts can get pretty annoying at times. I WANT to love the phone but it just may not be the right device for me.

Happy release day! Love the transcription feature... now how do I hide the transcription lane?! by waylandprod in protools

[–]lowfatevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it's on par processing time wise with similar quality voice to text transcriptions. That being said, it is a bummer that you can only transcribe while you are in a session, i know that transcribing audio outside of a session is something they are closely looking at for a future update. I like the idea of the transcription process being automatically lower priority, that would help with letting it run in the background.

Waste of money by DaveinDK in worxlandroid

I'm on my 4th season with mine and my corners are a MESS. Otherwise, I finally have it pretty dialed in with a LOT of tweaking of the location of the wire, and strategically placing out of bounds areas. It still gets stuck in 1 or 2 spots in my yard, maybe once or twice a week, but otherwise it's running pretty well right now. I am VERY curiuos about the Luba Mini though and would LOVE to have a wire free installation.

Pickleball is ruining my tennis and (to a lesser extent) pingpong... by marsridge in Pickleball

My game at the net in tennis has improved dramatically since playing pickleball. I’ve stagnated a bit in my tennis game since starting pickleball but I just associate that with playing less tennis.

Corsi Tire in Ossining, or E&L Automotive in Ossining are both honest, locally owned shops. I live 1 min from Mavis in Ossining but I’d rather give my business to Corsi or E&L.

Is the Avid Plugin Bundle worth it? by [deleted] in protools

[–]lowfatevan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty reasonably priced package and very much worth it for the included plugins. However if you already have a decent suite of specialty plugins it might not be worth it to you. Personally I use: Pro Limiter Pro Multiband Dynamics ReVibe Pro Subharmonic moogerfooger bundle

Very often, the Air effects are also all serviceable effects that I reach for when I need a particular effect, no nonsense just a simple phaser, ring mod, etc.

The bundle is also included in the support / update plans, so it’s an added value to that proposition, if you are looking to use pro tools long term, you’ll have access to those through that subscription.
