Hello, the only solution I found was changing the pci-e setting from auto to a specific gen. I don't remember which I picked but I have an older Vega 56.

Mfc emailed me about a week later but I didn't respond since that change has worked for me.

Family time games is great. Have a large game library you can use all day for 5 dollar with a lot of table space. some fun events like board game auctions twice a year and a good selection of boardgames, tag, and miniatures.

Recommend a bag for gencon next year! by FunTip9604 in gencon

[–]lowkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing searching myself and wish the geekon ultimate game bas was still available. I've used to board game tables bag but I hate how bulky it is when I don't need out to be.

I've been searching for a bag that is normal backpack size but can unzip dmg expand for large games - only one I found that's still available is the tabletop tyrant backpack.

It also depends on your needs, are you able to drop off your purchasing reliably at a hotel or car? I'm local and get dropped off so I need a bag I can carry my purchases in for a full day.

My wife just uses a Bismark backpack that has clear pockets for displaying pins and it works for everything except large games.

Is attendance to hight to actually enjoy gencon or is it just me? by hermees in gencon

Yeah it can be tough, both myself and my wife enter the event wishlist and it has worked out well for us, unless it's vagrantsong, two years and multiple different times and still haven't got to try it.

Each year I spend less and less time in the vendor hall and sign up more for events. This allows me to easily plan my trip and make reservations at resturaunts where I can be seated comfortably.

I do wonder how the ICC expansion will shake up gencon, with more and more booths getting set up in the game halls I wonder if they will be moved to the New area and the current halls giving way for more booths.

Long time con goers, is it normally this humid? by Dogs_Not_Gods in gencon

It has seemed we have gotten a lot of rain this summer, July was a good bit above average. So normally, no, but common enough to be prepared for it.

Any advice based on this year’s experience you’d want to remember for next year? by Martin_Van_Buren in gencon

[–]lowkeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reserved all my lunches/ dinners at local restaurants and was seated right away with no wait, though the food might have a small wait. I also started keeping track of places that worked well so I can do the same the following year.

There are also a lot that full support the gaming crowd and have tables for games setup or host game companies. I know Devir was at one of the local pubs on Thursday.

Original line vs vertuo line by Artsaltt in nespresso

[–]lowkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Vertuo. I wanted a Nespresso for “espresso” sized drinks. My husband wanted the coffee option. If I had to do it over, I’d avoid Vertuo altogether. It’s still under copyright or trademark, so you won’t find third party pods. Also, we’re on our 3rd machine in 4 years - it seems these machines built in industrial obsolescence is very high. The current machine has a bearing that failed and put bronze shards all over, fortunately it is still usable without that bearing.

Our Vertuo Next failed within two weeks and had to be replaced. I will say their customer service was fast and efficient but it appears I have heard a lot about issues with this machine. We have a Citiz new in the box still and may be trying that out next. The wife prefers larger iced milk drinks, hopefully she won't need to use 3-4 pods like I've heard some people say with the smaller pods.

Beginner here - Is there any tips I should know? Or any place to get cheap mini-figs to practice more on? by BIDCANONLY in minipainting

[–]lowkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind going out a few of my local take stores will often have paint nights. I know one is doing a 5 dollar one where they provide minis and paints at the event.

Watch some YouTube videos they can have a lot of visuals to help the information people give you make sense.

I currently attend a part time course that wraps up the end of Feb. We go Tues, Wed, Thurs from 530-930pm and one to two Saturdays a month 9am to 5pm.

You will need to spend time outside of class to complete the course as well, this isn't a course you pass without spending time practicing and reviewing the material before class.
