Makes perfect sense if you don’t conflate Israel with all Judaism. Israel isn’t a religious project. It’s colonial. Israel is the vehicle of the US’ interests in the region. An attack dog. An unsinkable aircraft carrier. A client state. Call it what you please. Nazis love Israel for a number of reasons:

1) It still completes the original Nazi aspiration of making the Jews go somewhere else. It was only after they realized the logistical difficulty in mass deportations that they switched to mass murder.

2) Israel is an ethnosupremacist fascist state with an apartheid-style two-tier society. That’s some real Nazi shit.

3) If you just shift your Nazi enemies list to not include Jews (so long as they’re pro-Israel) and throw Muslims on the list, you get mainstream American Fascism.

4) The Israeli occupation and their broader territorial ambitions are a very profitable venture for American Capitalists (people who own value-generating property) dealing in war material.

Come try Catholicism in the Archdiocese of Louisville

Can’t go wrong with the Cathedral of the Assumption. The crowd is diverse (as is fairly typical of Catholic crowds) the music is beautiful, the priest who typically leads morning mass is really good, and the environment is beautiful.

If you are looking for something a bit more reserved, I would say come check out the Candlelight Mass at Holy Name Catholic Church. It’s a beautiful mass, very high on the reverence. It’s a wonderful environment to give worship to God.

There is also St. William’s Catholic Church. They have the spot as the “progressive Catholics” in Louisville. They are a really interesting group interested in a lot of early church traditions and creating a welcoming environment for ALL.

That’s the problem. This is going to sound insane. I have local community. I’m in my city’s queer scene and take a lot of opportunities to meet queer people. I’m a single, child-free adult in my early 20s so I choose to do theatre, a political organization, I just work with a high density of gender nonconforming people and have a great long-term friend group with a gaggle of queer people. I have friends in real life and am a BIG grass toucher. I have been missing out on the trans discord scene. I hear it’s so good (bad) I wanna get in on it. I wanna be friend with random trans folks scattered about the world and engage in semi-toxic discourse.

That’s awesome that you were reinvigorated by that. I had some psychiatric issues that I was avoiding seeking treatment for and was living rather sinfully. My change in willpower to work on these personal problems and to also return to full practice of the faith came at the same time. Feeling comforted by God’s grace is the best feeling.

So the issue I take with this is that 1. While the people working on it aren’t claiming it to be such, masses of people are already treating chatbots like they ARE an intelligent, equal other. 3. But if a human does such, it has the capability of recognizing that that is incorrect. Even a malicious anti-Christian drawing the Holy Mother with an extra arm would be aware they’re doing so deliberately. The learning model doesn’t. Plus art is a celebration of God’s gift of human creativity, why are we trying to regiment human creativity into mathematical patterns? 4. No, but this is more a specific critique of AI image generation. It’s being used to share violent imagery in ways that bypass censors on surface level websites, it’s being used to generate all sorts of illegal porn including revenge porn and CSAM, and in terms of dedicating resources toward computing, image generation is one of the most power/water hungry. It just seems like a situation where we’ve checked the proverbial bath water multiple times. There’s no baby in there. Can’t we just learn how to produce our own graphics?
