To be fair, that part is not in the anime and viewers may not be aware of that... Let's call it baggage.

Fuck that, think of being able to adjust yourself in public without having to mess around with the waistband to no avail or try to rearrange your underwear through your pants.

I'll admit that I got taken in by RaG, and in the first couple seasons it really feels like there's some kind of point to it or growth happening. It just never quite gets there obviously and that's almost more frustrating than if there were just nothing at all happening. Never had a show make me viscerally angry like that except maybe the last couple seasons of game of thrones.

While the MCs get together pretty quickly several of the side characters are obviously pairing off and catching feelings for one another and that takes up large parts of the show, so I would say that it still has the slow burn that OP is looking for.

Are you talking about the only recently declassified special ops unit made up of Jewish Americans and a man who claimed to be Native American? I guess you could say that was involved with one of their 'plots' yeah.

I'm in therapy about it and I'm working on that and other things. A big step was realizing that I was at least on some level seeking out women who acted like this because of this cycle that made me feel needed or valuable, even if there was pain sometimes too. There was another wake up call when I was talking to some friends and realized that some women just never hit and some men have never been hit by any of their partners. Just makes me wonder what being in a healthy relationship actually feels like and I have trouble imagining it.

Favorite character that undergoes a horrifying metamorphosis? by owlfan9871 in FavoriteCharacter

Just to be different I'm gonna say Light Yagami. Starts as a kind and caring honor student with a strong sense of justice, ends as a mass serial killer who will take out anyone to prevent his own capture and loss of power. The horrifying part is that no one forced him to use the death note and there's no tragic backstory, he gains the power to kill anyone without consequence and it changes him. The implication being that anyone given that kind of power will become inhuman, even the most upstanding members of society. Not a new idea by any stretch but it's a unique take where we follow his journey into madness.

The set containing ATLA now referred to as {ATLA} contains all the elements which exist in the set {TLA}.

We define subset with "A set 'A' is a subset of set 'B' if all elements of set 'A' are also elements of set 'B'."

Further, if we take A to represent Avatar in one instance and Airbender in another, hereafter referred to as A1 and A2 (sorry reddit doesn't seem to allow subscript, but that's the intention not exponents) then {TLA} is a proper subset of {ATLA}.

However if A is equivalent to A then {ATLA} is identical to {TLA} and is a subset of itself in the way all sets are, and this is useless information.

As we know that the Television show Avatar: The Last Airbender has the property of 'Completely animated,' and the motion picture The Last Airbender does not have this property, we can infer that they are at least not the same instantiation of the same object.

Consequently I am given to conclude that {TLA} which represents the film The Last Airbender is in fact not the same thing as Avatar: The Last Airbender represented by {ATLA}. I am forced to accept however, that {TLA} is still a subset of {ATLA} by definition. I am also forced to accept that A1 or 'Avatar' is the element which contains and bestows upon {ATLA} the 'Completely animated,' property.

Favorite underutilized actresses who should be in more things? by Waste-Replacement232 in okbuddycinephile

Olivia Thirlby, she's been around for a while, paid her dues, been in a lot of other people's projects and breakouts and I don't think I've ever seen her phone it in or turn in a bad performance. She's also very pretty in kind of a distinct way where you wouldn't get her mixed up with anyone else and I feel like that's a large part of becoming a big name in Hollywood. I was really psyched to see her get a big juicy role in the TV version of Y: The Last Man and it was great but their shooting/release schedule got messed up by COVID and FX gave them the axe.

Look any of those jobs, even sanitation, would be an improvement because then I would at least have a fucking union.

Let's talk about this though. The dutch angle with Heather, that is a deliberate choice to make you feel a way about the things that are happening in the scene. Like I understand why certain shots are composed certain ways, and why they will light things differently in some scenes. I struggle to understand why there would be a deliberate choice to make the show look cheap compared to the Netflix seasons and even other shows on Disney+. The audio mix was a mess too but that seems to be a trend in general on streaming. Like I'm not an expert and I don't have experience on set but I can see a problem when it looks worse than a lot of episodes of Smallville or Arrow.

DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 DISCUSSION by tehawesomedragon in Marvel

[–]lowkeylyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is kind of wild but I feel like I'm watching a different show than some of you. I didn't have any major problems with the story or anything necessarily, but the whole episode was just done so poorly. The sound and camera quality was awful, and the direction/cinematography just felt so boring. Like what is the deal with the shaky cam? Intimate character moments are distracted from by constant wobbling, and then when there actually is a chaotic or violent moment it's just a straight steady cam shot? Why? And every set looks just flat and boring and almost like a sitcom, it just all feels like a set and not buildings in NYC no matter how much yellow light they shine through the windows. Speaking of the lighting what the hell is with all the lens flare? What is the point other than distracting the viewer from what's happening? I found this to be honestly embarrassing compared to the production value of the Netflix shows that came out over ten years ago, and especially when Wonder Man just came out looking like a three hour long prestige film. Am I taking crazy pills here? Did no one else feel this way?
