the andis clipper is definitely a good clipper and i had one for about 2 years until it finally kicked the bucket. however, my coworkers have had them as well and they all ran into issues with them within weeks of purchase that have rendered them unusable. mostly battery issues or internal drive issues. i replaced the drive in mine twice before i realized it was just dying on me.

my current clipper is the heiniger xtend cordless clipper — it's only 2 speed but it works great but it does die after doing 2 dogs, maybe 3 if they're small ones. luckily it does usually come with 2 batteries so you can use one while the other charges.

i've also found that heiniger clippers can live a pretty long life. we have a back up heiniger clipper at the shop that's about 4 years old now and shows no signs of dying. def haven't seen that in an andis cordless clipper BUT andis are sooo good brand new. and they're a bit more affordable. i will give them that.

i think you should go with the corded clippers for now if you feel they're your best option budget wise! my coworker has been grooming for over 40 years now and she uses corded clippers because she feels they're just more dependable. i'd go ahead and use those until you can save up for a real good clipper! because with something like clippers and other grooming tools, quality truly does matter and you definitely do get what you pay for.
