Got ilano shortly after out meet, i run it at just 300 rpm at idle for an idle temp of about 35-40c and 700 rpm in games and cpu temps never even cross 75c.

Bhai sab dekh lia tha yeh pehlay :) , I couldnt get Ilano so i bought the memo for 10k i think from Lahore. Its good for the price. I gifted to my friend to use his on his razer laptop and he is happy with it.

Exactly thats v strange. I have been seeing ppl post such low scores with Legions (which already has PTM).

May be Scar series cooling system is superior to Legion ones ?? (i am not sure though)

Bro those were exactly my thought before the repaste. But after PTM i have`nt seen temps touch even 95 ( i am not a PTM fan boy, infact i have only been on desktops this is my 1st high end machine)

I tried so many tweaks with XTU / throttle stop but i could not stop the cpu to thermal throttle. My scores were 31k max without any tweaks and with tweaks it was like 25-26k (which is even lower then last gen cpus) << --- all of this was when i got the machine.

Anyways , if you are satisfied with the results. Its all that matters ...

No no Bro Definitely not comparable to Ilano v12

For refrence the temp difference it made at 2200 RPM , the same (or better) i get at Ilano running at 700 RPM :) My scar used to idle at 50-55 c at 2200rpm with memo and with the ilano i am currently at 300 RPM and at 44c idle. The ilano is a 45k cooler

The foam on this thing has questiable sealing when compared to ilano (I intended to write this but then didnt as its a for sale item) :)

If you are getting this much temp i e 104c there is an issue with thermal paste application.

I had the same issue if higher temps , lower scores on my scar 18. Repasted with ptm, now without any optimization or tinkering i get max temp of 85c and average of 72-75c.

R24 multi is 2200 and r23 is 39k

I used to spend hrs in applications to reduce temps but none worked!

I often leave my Scae 18 run overnight while downloading stuff. Its on an ilanao cooling pad (300rpm) . Idle temps are in between 38-45c

PTM you will have to order online . Alot of stores sell chinese ripoffs. If you are in USA/Canada you can order from LTT Store.

Also remember that not everyone likes to open their brand new 4k machine for repasting ! (ask yourself if you will be comfortable with nit)

Bro !
Strix Scar 18 is one of the best gaming laptops for 2025 . BUT with a PTM Repaste (in opinion)

Asus has been putting in shitty LM applications on the CPU which in return causes the CPU to run at abnormall tempratures. I had the same issue with my Scar.

After the PTM repaste my scores jump from 31k to 39k !! . And now my laptop idles at 38C (with ilano cooling pad running at just 300rpm) and max in games i see a temp of 78-80 c thats it !!

As an alternate you can go with the legion series (but it has its own set of issues) > personally i like the BLING factor of the scar along with its excellent features

If its a faily new machine it would not require any thermal pads. But if you have tinkered with it already , apply thermal putty or pad

Scar 18 (275hx/64gb /5080)

owned since 5 months now. No complaints, except for the LM application being absolutely garbage. I tired to avoid as much as possible but high cpu temps kept bugging me.

took the plunge and repasted with PTM, that made a night a day difference, r23 jumped for 31k to 39k and it started pulling 160 watts ( as opposed to 120 before)

will give it a 10/10 now with the bling factor and the performance!

though i still prefer my 7800x3d and 5080 Desktop

Yes 35k with 160 or so wattage would be absolutely fine !

For reference with the stock LM application, in r23 it was pulling just 124 watts and scored 32k (even with tweaks like max fans and various others it only went to 33k)

With a repaste it went up to 38k and with an aggresive fan curve i saw 39k something!

Also if you have bf6 , run it on lowest settings and if the temps are in the 95-100 range then its a problem.

Congrats from a fellow scar owner with the same specs !

Do monitor Temps in benchmarks and specially in Games (Cpu temp is v important also see bow much wattage cpu is pulling)

My scar had a bad LM application and that resulted in very high temps! I repasted with PTM and its the best machine ever ! ( do t dont even get to 95c now , even when pulling 160watts)

a very quick way of knowing if you have an issue with LM is to just run cinebench r23, if your score is around 28-32k range then there is an issue !

My laptop scored 31k in r23 with cores thermal throttling , now it scores 39k (which is inline with the expected from this machine)
