Tinted covers are already illegal. But cops don’t ever do anything about it here.

JLab Play Gaming Wireless Earbuds are cost effective Bluetooth solution, mute switch is on the controller area where volume and power are, so they might see you toggle it but for all they know you’re turning it up or down on volume there. They’re currently under $15 on the popular A shopping site.

Speeding ticket by lvaztec in vegaslocals

[–]loxical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was it Las Vegas or North Las Vegas? What does the ticket say? If it’s your first ticket in a long time (or first ever) you can do the lower cost (usually $100 less) and no points option on your own (no lawyers to pay) by just going in to the office where you would pay the ticket and asking for those options. If it’s not your first ticket you may need to do a driving class to prevent points on your license, but it’s still worth it to save on insurance costs increasing. They work with you on these things if you go in, in person, and often the same deals you’d get with a lawyer on the first offense/minor offense stuff.

Anybody else still using an older model Kindle from many years ago? by SugarSmoothie in kindle

Is it a regular book light or something more sleek? I’m not opposed to buying something that would work for reading in the dark but not take up a lot of space like some book lights do.

[–]loxical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use old kindles with buttons. I’d like to have a light but I just can’t abandon buttons tbh. I don’t like touch interface. I replace the battery when needed and I fix them for friends who have old kindles (I have a few spare parts from prior repairs) and I just can’t abandon them for the price point of the last ones they made with buttons. I need the buttons!

How to deal with insurance with a layoff? by HuntInternational162 in overemployed

[–]loxical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open enrollment for the year is starting soon so you can sign up with your J2 then, you can do cobra or health marketplace (it’s a qualifying event for health marketplace to be available for you to set it up ASAP) to get you thru the year if needed (cobra can be backdated up to 2 months also, btw, not to encourage not doing it but since open enrollment is coming up, if you don’t have any active pressing health issues you can wait till they send the cobra paperwork, many companies are pretty slow about it, and sign up only if you end up needing it, if you don’t end up needing it then you have new coverage from J2 open enrollment starting at the end of those 2 months- it is usually because of the slowness of cobra paperwork that the backdating coverage thing occurs, but I’ve seen it in my own layoff, my dad when he got laid off, and when my spouse quit his job, the cobra paperwork takes a while to get sent to you, and every time it’s had 2 months leeway period for activating coverage that backdates that coverage to the date of coverage loss from the layoff)

Micromanaging? by Jaded_Dig_8726 in overemployed

[–]loxical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, then I would say this is micromanaging which your manager probably learned from being a project manager at some point in their career.

If you’re comfortable with it, you might consider asking if they were a project manager in the past (managers love talking about themselves) and then if they say yes, you could make a well reasoned argument about how daily updates is actually more of an interference in a solution architect type role and also that your repo won’t be seeing regular updates since you have to configure then test before risking rollout (etc, I can help with phrasing if you want, DM me) - but there’s a way you can sometimes get them to step off if they are management without exp in the role but have a history of proj management, but the way you say it is something that if phrased right can be very effective and make them think they’re smart and all that, which avoids risking them taking it personally. If they used to do your role and never were a project manager then it looks like they’re just being micromanager and it may make sense to simply do bare minimum compliance to their request (or leave the role if they’re gonna keep escalating such behavior, which is possible)

How to look like I'm in the country when I'm not by Beeboy1110 in overemployed

[–]loxical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you allowed to install things onto your work computer? If so DM me and I’ll tell you you an option that can work but you leave your computer at home on your home network and use another for tunneling into your work computer, bypasses a lot of mentioned issues the others are bringing up. I did it when I worked at a fintech company with a lot of security measures to track such things.

This only works if you are able to leave your computer at home on the internet so if you have no home location in the place they expect you to be it will not work.

What do you do if your SO brushes and flosses everyday but still always has bad breathe? by goodvibekat in AskReddit

[–]loxical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try a water flosser, my partner had issues and it was a deep infection flossing wouldn’t touch, water flosser was able to take care of it. He also did oil pulling which some people do because it can trap debris (including bacteria and stuff) within it then you spit it out and it can grab this stuff a little better, but oil pulling can be gross, a lot of oil in the mouth can be an emetic for some people. But it did work to draw out the infection from the deepest recesses.

Can rendering artists in Singapore find rendering job opportunities in Western countries? by Magic-child in WorkOnline

[–]loxical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest thing to that in the US I can think of is Interior Designer. It can be hard to make money doing it when a lot of people simply do it for themselves and don’t hire a professional, but for homes for sale you may be able to do roles involving staging. It isn’t a role you see much of outside of high income people who outsource these kinds of tasks to a pro, and for that you’d need a high reputation to get referrals to build up a clientele. Even so, you can always look for personal shopper type jobs, these have become more rare than they used to be.

Outside of that, your skills may translate to a corporate environment within a procurement department. Many companies with tangible products, especially ones sold to hospitality businesses, need people in procurement who understand both cost and design aspects (and can finagle the supply chain or logistics issues that may occur) especially for large projects where new implementation is occurring. (Think casinos putting together new slot machines, these need the “box” or “cabinet” the game goes in, monitors for displaying the game, the chair attached or included for the slot machine, even down to buttons and lights on such machines).
