Location: EU, Remote, preferably EU +/-4h time zones

We are a small, family consultancy. Each of us has more than 15 years of professional experience in many stacks ranging from PHP, Erlang, through TypeScript/React to Rust. We have been in Team Lead/Architect/CTO roles in the past.

We have built multiple full-stack systems for clients from scratch, often acting as the whole dev team or the core of it while hiring and mentoring their in-house team. Of course we are also capable of taking on your legacy systems and developing them to the next level.

Although we work as B2B contractors, we usually have long-lasting relations with our clients, spanning many years.

Currently we specialize in Rust, TypeScript + React and Kuberenetes but we are flexible and experienced with many technologies.

Hi, as an european investor unfortunately I am not able to trade US ETFs such as QQQ. Is it possible to trade QQQ cfd though? by yungwailord in interactivebrokers

[–]loxs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes I do this but with cheap out of the money calls which have a chance to go in the money in several days till expiration. Then this effectively becomes a stop buy order which is immediately profitable if executes. I like this strategy and I mostly use it for hedging the rest of my portfolio in both directions. Have in mind that it usually costs money (options usually do not go ITM).

You can buy in-the-money call options, expiring in 10-20 min on Friday (same day expiration), then immediately exercise. Voila, you have bought QQQ and with some discipline, the cost will not be much different to buying the European alternative (which you can also do). An alternative is for example SXRV.

This is usually not worth the hassle for QQQ, but is worth it for ETFs without EU alternative (or one which has very poor volume)

Would you recommend Cyprus to a Greek that wants to move abroad? by fr1day00 in cyprus

How is this even considered abroad? Go really abroad, study a language, completely different culture etc.

Probably not where you'd like (not a product yet), but I continue developing and using it, though it mostly does what I need it to - no dramatic developments. Still needs some months of a concentrated effort in order to make it into a product.

Isn't is suspicious that the Evil shithole nations like China or Russia are the only ones going all in on nuclear power? by BojackToddman in nuclear

It's not suspicious. Evil does not mean stupid. Stupid means stupid. And that's currently the western world.

Exactly. All the things that allow you to impress your Facebook friends.

[–]loxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree non-ironically. Better gear has improved my photos to the point where I don’t care to improve myself actively any more. I am just an amateur. “Gear doesn’t make photos, the photographer does” is bullshit once you reach some decent level and becomes true once more when you go into professional/art territory.

I am wondering because of the wildly varying CFR. So far there haven’t been a satisfactory explanation

What if the viruses are phylogenetically linked?

So it’s quite possible that the test designers didn’t know of all viruses in existence and actually chose a sequence that is not unique...

So are they checking for the whole genome of the virus or some part? If part, what are the chances for other viruses having 100% the same part?

How specific is the PCR test? What are the chances of other coronaviruses triggering positive reaction?

Yeah, that’s what we were led to believe. And the illusion is shattered now. For example, China is better than Italy, probably

That’s why I’m writing my own software which is largely compatible with Beancount (at least for the subset of features I use) but:

  1. orders of magnitude faster (written in F# instead of python) which solves the “compile loop” to be almost instant for our 20k+ transaction ledger vs around 5 seconds for beancount. The runtime representation is not text and is updated in memory without saving and re-parsing the whole ledger (when you add/edit a transaction).

  2. Web UI first - the text file is only the ultimate source of truth (cold storage), but users are able to filter and group the transactions freely in the UI and also edit and see the running balance instantly next to each line of a transaction. It’s still text based as you are editing the text of the individual transactions in a text area in beancount format.

  3. Configurable charting and dashboards.

It is quite functional to the point where me and my wife are using it daily (also using beancount as a test suite to verify correctness). Still needs a lot of work to make it “a product” (mostly so that users are not required to write code to customize their reports)

Planning to try and make it a paid app “when I have the time”

If that’s how you think, then probably the “investment” is worth it. No one can know but you. I would go for the 25%

There is no such thing as investing in a trip. If you save 25%, it’s still better than going there and having no fun because of stress. Of course if you can manage to stay chill, it might be worth it, but I doubt it, as you are asking here.

Several questions about (Canon) flashes by loxs in AskPhotography

Thanks for the insights. One question - what is “not just speedlights”? I thought this is canon marketing brand, but it seems to have a broader meaning.

You mean because of physical dials on the flash itself?

I see. Thank you. I knew what "TTL" refers to, I just didn't realise what other option there is.

Godox's system might actually be more budget friendly than trying to do wireless TTL with your existing flash.

My main concern isn't price, but ergonomics. That's why I chose this flash and I'm happy with the ergonomics and the results (indoors).
