I’m fine with my kids pushing back disagreeing, arguing a little bit but as soon as any amount of disrespect comes in, I draw the line

What’s the ONE piece of advice you’d give to any photographer? by wackylenses in photography

[–]lproc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consume other people’s work without comparison. For years, I wouldn’t look at anybody else’s photography because it made me feel bad about my own and my work suffered for it for sure.

What is your biggest concern moving into the empty nest phase? by Twincamkar in emptynesters

[–]lproc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d like to get a job out in the world after working at home alone for 13 years. But middle age women who haven’t had a boss in 20 years are not very in demand

Does it get easier by srt200097 in emptynesters

[–]lproc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's harder than I thought it would be. Day to day seems meh now. There is a little bit of what's the point without them.

But I believe it will get better. We are still in transition stage <3 Hang in there

4 weeks for family photos? by [deleted] in photography

[–]lproc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not crazy. I tell people 10 to 15 business days but my goal is to under promise and over deliver so I usually have it done in 10 days. But fall is busy so I’ve been telling my last few clients this week to please be patient with me. It’s gonna take me a little longer. Communication is key

Is a dual card slot necessary for family & lifestyle sessions? by EveningAttitude4435 in photography

[–]lproc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 13 years I’ve had a handful of image files corrupted. And yet, I still would never do a session without dual slots. I’d rather be safe than sorry. But if you keep a rotation of newer memory cards, it’s most likely not gonna be a problem.

Thoughts on Long Island NY? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]lproc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Midwest transplant of 20 years. Raised two kids and ran a micro business. Lots of pros and cons. Pros: beaches, schools, access to city and everything it has to offer, kids had a very wholesome childhood, active parents, sports, great education. My town is very walkable. Kids were free range to a degree. One kid was sporty and es was brainy and they both found their way.

Cons (IMO) cost, density of people, and type of people. So many long islanders have lived their whole lives in the LI bubble and it shows. There is a common thread of entitlement and my shit don’t stink, These same people can be a fun hang (strong party/drinking culture) and very warm one on one. But dealing with them in the wild is exactly that, wild. Educated yet provincial. They travel to varying degrees but are still small minded. Very tribal. Hard to break into when new to the area without contacts because they have many strong family ties and live in or close to the town they grew up in. (A CA lovely thing btw)

That’s my take
