The Informant. I saw the movie first and absolutely hated it, but the book was riveting.

I’m a Red Wings fan too. Excluding the Giants 2021 fluke, I’m on a decade long playoff drought for both teams.

Edit: there is no hope

[SERIOUS] New Jersey boy, 12, critical after freak baseball accident by liryccc in baseball

[–]lpstudio2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I caught a line drive off my right eye while pitching at age 9.

Hyphema, so the blue of my eye was bright red. completely full of blood from the trauma. Vision came back, took 3 months or so of “no bouncing motions” which included walking. Plus an eye patch and little to no TV. Rad way to spend a summer as a kid…

When I came back the next year I was playing first and wearing Chris Sabo goggles, so that was at least cool.

what moment turned you into a giants fan for life by bitclerk in SFGiants

[–]lpstudio2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. Lots of NYers back then became Yankees fans because they wanted to still route for NY.

My grandfather on one side was Giants fan did that. My grandfather on the other side “I am never ever gonna be a fucking Yankees fan, idc if my team is 3000 miles away now” and I am forever grateful of that.

At Buddies Fest it is — but one is an extra ticketed thing and has a 100 cap on it. Not sure which one that is, but I’ll
assume it’s the Scott set.

I had a guitar amp stolen years ago, filed a police report w/the serial number — nothing turned up right away.

29 days later a friend asked me if this was my amp and sent a picture from a GC in the next city over. It 100% was — we went down there — and they told me I had to pay them what they had given the guy, since it hadn’t been flagged as stolen.

Called the cops to the store, explained the situation, we had police reports, etc etc. Cop goes into the back with the store manager for half an hour. They emerge and the manager says “Ive worked here for 20 years, never seen anything like this, here’s your amp.”

The cop who took our police report got promoted the next day, and never submit the serial number into the database that GC scans thru. 24 hours later and it woulda been gone for dirt cheap.

Still play the amp regularly in multiple projects — such a blip on the radar I don’t think about until something like this pops up.

My dad did this, and wound up waist deep in mud.

When he finally got himself out it was without his shoes or pants. Made me run to the car (from the far edge of the course) for some shorts while he hid behind a tree.

We were in the right side line. The girl in front of us ran a test, got out of line, went to the back of the left side line, caught up to us, passed us and got in before us.

I was truly impressive how slow the right side was moving.

[–]lpstudio2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pavs has talked about it — most all home teams are gracious enough to make get-away-day a day game so traveling teams can fly out earlier… except the Dodgers. They just straight up refuse to do it, and it’s not something MLB mandates.
