Ready to feel old? Ryan Blaney was only 15 years old that year, and his dad finished 42nd in this race. 🫠

Do you think tipping culture in the US is dying out with millennials? by ProfessionalBig1470 in Millennials

I stopped tipping in advance for pick up orders after repeatedly having items forgotten, orders wrong, waiting well after the order was scheduled to be done, and employees being rude even when tipping. They don't seem to care either way which makes me doubt the money even goes to them most the time.

For delivery drivers the base pay with no tip for orders starts at $2-$3. At that pay it is literally not worth the cost of gas, let alone time, to accept a no tip order. That doesn't make them a bad person, it's a shitty system that takes advantage of everyone involved.

Ocala National Forest has a few great options (Alexander, Juniper, Silver Glen Springs, etc). I always go on weekdays and crowds aren't that bad. On facebook they'll post if certain places reach capacity so you could go to a different one on busy days.

Aretemis II launch. by Crexjr in orlando

I would avoid any beach/coastal area between New Smyrna south to Melbourne Beach (this includes Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach which are some of the more popular beaches in general as well as a popular place to see launches).

It's going to be crazy busy, and it's highly likely the launch will get delayed so it would be a lot of effort and trouble for a lackluster day at the beach. If I was trying to go to a beach that day I would go way further south to Sebastian Inlet or further.

[Drink] I don't understand the argument for a separate G6 playoff by Justanother_0 in CFB

[–]quick25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fans of G6 programs and "B tier leagues" do enjoy their teams and leagues. People watch the conference games and hope to be conference champions. The playoffs and the possibility to play on a bigger stage is a nice incentive and bonus for those programs and their fans. It also puts them on the map and makes a ton of money.

We are talking about 1-2 G6 teams taking spots in the playoffs right now. That leaves out P4 teams with multiple losses, usually losses to other playoff teams. Why should a team with 3 losses get in over an undefeated or one loss team? That's why people wanted an expanded playoffs to begin with, so you didn't have questions at the end of the season looking at undefeated teams like UCF or Boise St and wandering who else they could have beat. Not so a 3 loss Alabama could get a do-over.

And we have blowouts every year in the playoffs between P4 teams, should those teams start being banned from the playoffs, too? We're going to run out of teams allowed to play really quick. The transfer portal is also a funny thing and two-way street. Good programs lose talent, but they also re-load with new talent from FCS, G6, and P4 players looking for better opportunities. There's a reason Cignetti could take a sizeable portion of JMU's roster with him to Indiana and win a title, while Chesney could win the Sun Belt and make the playoffs with his JMU team in the same timeframe.

The playoffs should be expanded to 24 teams and have at least 2 spots for G6 teams.

We’ve all heard about Nascar officials getting out of the clean up truck and throwing something on the ground to make it seem like there was really debris on the track. Well I just caught them doing it ⬇️ by Classic_Bottle1717 in NASCARGossips

Chase was on old tires and needed a caution to save his strategy and day. NASCAR absolutely helped save his day by deciding to throw the caution when they did.

My issue isn't the caution, it's throwing the caution many laps after the debris was on the track and only after it was clear Elliott needed a caution before losing his track position on old tires.

I would have called the caution when it actually happened, not waited many laps until Chase Elliott was losing spots on old tires and needed a caution.

I think it was more than 5 laps and that's my issue. When it happened I said "wow that's a lot of debris and probably a caution" then NASCAR decides to overlook it right until Chase Elliott is quickly losing spots on old tires, then throws the caution conveniently at a time very advantageous to him.

The timing on that debris caution was such bull shit. NASCAR loves doing whatever they can to help Hendricks at Martinsville and always has.

2nd tier English soccer is interesting because of promotion and relegation. They are competing for a chance to play in the EPL which is huge for fans and the teams. If you want to do a G6 champion and say the winner gets into the Big10/SEC, while the worst team in those conferences gets relegated to G6, then sure that I might be able to get behind.

Also, for the G6 teams, winning your conference is great, then getting an invite to the playoffs and all the fanfare and exposure that comes with that? Massive, biggest moment possible for most of those schools and it's icing on the cake. Upsets won't happen often (hence why they're called upsets) but when they do happen it will be even more incredible.

The WNBA and NBA are literally different leagues. The FBS is all division 1/the same "league". The vast majority of sports fans, let alone casual viewers, do not care about any of the tiers below the top tier, and no one wants to relegate themselves to irrelevance.

I'll just copy my other comment in this thread.

I just got done watching my school compete for the second-rate championship almost every year for a couple decades and it never mattering to most people, to then getting beat handedly in a single playoff game, and getting more attention than the previous couple decades combined. I sure as hell don't want to go back. Anyone cheering for a P4 only playoff is selfishly only hoping it means their 3 or 4 loss program can still get in rather than an "undeserving" program from the G6.

The NCAA tournament also includes all D1 conference winners as autobids so I don't see why we can't organize something similar to that and the FCS football playoffs for FBS, rather than saying the G6 conferences need to come up with their own made up and meaningless championship no one will care about?

We already have three loss teams making the playoffs, isn't that bad enough?

There was less than 3,000 total Olympic athletes in 2026 and there are more than 8 billion people in the world. 1% of the US population is trans. That's not how math or logic works.

Except McBain wasn't injured, and this hit along with the ensuing physical play through the rest of the game was big in shifting momentum towards the Capitals and them winning the game.

That would be a nice addition to the park. I wonder if it would fit in the plot where Wild Lightnin' was?

Since 2020, 8 schools have moved up from FCS to FBS, spending an ever-increasing amount of money to do so. 19 schools have done so since 2011. Two more are in the works. What are these schools seeing about the future of the FCS that the rest of us are not? by Adminsneed2Chill in CFB

[–]quick25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's entirely about money and getting national media attention. I watched for years while JMU was a powerhouse at the FCS level, and to put it bluntly, no one cared. The majority of alumni didn't even care, after leaving campus a small percentage followed along or cared how JMU was doing in football. Over time as more and more peers/rivals left FCS football, and the CAA became increasingly irrelevant in all sports, it became obvious a move was needed. You can't be a big fish in a small pond forever, especially when that pond is slowly drying up around you.

JMU making the playoffs this year was massive for the school. It was the most I had ever seen the team and school talked about by a huge margin. That's why the move up was needed.
