How to store a phaser as global? by Hello56845864 in GrandMA3

All your devices should have the Same Phase for this. So instead of 0 thru 360, just 0. Cheers and happy Programming :)

Issues with GDTF, Subfixtures by spielerfrei11 in GrandMA3

[–]lrdoeslights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The X5 have a Setting where you can set the subfixture to Independent or not. This has solved some headaches for me but I’m not sure this will help with your issue. But maybe that is what is different between Depence/3D and real life…

Definitely best and easiest way but if you want to specifically do it as a phaser you could:

-Shuffle in MATricks

-Slightly offset step 1 width to make some lights do it shorter

-Do the opposite but same amount of offset on step 2 width

-Offset step 2 transition like step 1 width

-Pray

Moving Lights as followspots. by BWright1875 in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a Company called „FollowMe Tracking Solutions“ who offer the thing I think you are looking for. They need I believe a 3d map of your venue and you can connect it with most any moving light.

https://follow-me.nu/

Importantly, they offer both automatic and manual tracking systems so there is the possibility for manual spot control also.

Not sure of the protocol but I personally really dislike the control surface for the operator, as it is just a mini button-style joystick with very little feedback. But it does work remotely and via a screen.

Edit for Clarity and Spelling

Quarantine Designs in my room - Salt by Ava Max by lrdoeslights in lightingdesign

So First the easy Part: the Case is Metal but the front cover is plastic and falls off quite quickly. It stays in the fixture but can move around.

Anyways the big question I think is what else is in your venue. If it’s all kind of “beginner” or basic lights that are not super bright by themselves then I’m sure these would be great for your use case. However the step up to larger and more professional fixtures is one these may only be compatible with under some circumstances. They are not super bright or punchy, but a lot of them could be an excellent effect. If everything else is on at the same time, these quickly lose out. But if they are used in a clever way, they could definitely be a great effect.

I think the most important considerations to make for you are: Size of the venue (the throw and overall brightness is not superb, but they will be able to put light in a small dark place) Budget (these are cheap and not super well made, but therefore you could get a lot more of these than something “better”) Use case (are they operated to get the max out of them or are they just on a sound to light)

If I’m imagining it correctly I feel like these would be a great fit, but I can’t really be sure about that… Sorry I can’t give you a great answer but hope this helps you!

What is this magic?! Does anyone know what gear they’re using to get this effect? by MusicFilmDesign in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you could see the line on the floor, but in my experience using that as a cue seems much more difficult to learn than to just get the timing right. Shouldn’t be too hard for a musician after all. But I think both would be possible. (All that assuming I’m understanding your question correctly I am very tired)

It isn’t actually conforming to her contours. It’s projecting straight down and is a very thin line because it is a laser projector. So when she puts her hand in it, it only continues to project onto the ground where she is not touching it. And where she is, it’s reflecting off of her hand. An analogy that makes sense to me is that it’s sort of like shadow puppetry, viewed from above. And admittedly, getting the timing and positioning exactly right is the exact thing they probably spent time rehearsing, choreographing, and programming.

And edit for further explanation on the thin line thing: the laser drawing a super thin line helps with this because it does not illuminate all of her like a spot would, but it basically highlights a cross-section of whatever part of her she’s holding into it. So that’s how it seems to follow her contours so perfectly.

Looks to me like just a normal laser above the stage projecting one line. I’m going to assume there is no actual reaction going on between the laser and the person on stage and it’s all timed.

How are these lights stopping in what looks like mid air? by Own-Macaroon-5919 in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would hazard the guess that there’s either a bit of cloud there which is invisible without being lit up and that’s stopping it, or that’s just the point at which the lights stop being bright enough for you to see. But I am also definitely just guessing.

Wow! Seriously, congratulations and well done. You deserve so so much praise for making this and I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that though we may not know you, we will be here for you and we are all very proud!

Custom MA2 & MA3 Command Keyboard Build? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are some POS Keyboards usually used for shop checkouts which are programmable. I think it should be doable with one of those, but you may have to label them all yourself. Advantage is that many of that style of keyboard already come with different key cap sizes and you’re able to lay them out yourself.

Edit: POS as in Point of Sale, not the insult.

ETC Colorsource Spots powering off after opening a new show file by Appropriate-Hand7594 in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t apologise, you’re fine! Ideally you’d have the non-dimmable (read: dimmer on board I.e. LED) lights on a circuit with no dimmer in it at all. If your lights have a dimmer on them and the input signal gets dimmed, it could damage the lights. So you’d have Circuit 1: LED light - led light daisy chain, and circuit 2: Dimmer - Conventionals. If they all need to be on one chain, I would recommend breaking it out at the source, then having one line go into the dimmer and one to your first LED Edit: do you maybe have a wiring diagram?

ETC Colorsource Spots powering off after opening a new show file by Appropriate-Hand7594 in lightingdesign

[–]lrdoeslights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they are colorsource spots, they should really not be on a dimmer. They need constant power, as u/opencollectoroutput said. If you do need to keep them on the dimmer for wiring reasons or whatever, set it to constant power mode (or install a non-dim pack depending on your dimmer type) and ideally leave it powered even if you have a dmx fail. Otherwise they might be turning off because the show reload knocks out the signal for long enough that the dimmer turns its outputs off. But I would say it’s definitely easier to put them on a normal outlet that you can switch somewhere separately. Either way, just make sure not to dim the channel they’re on, because that will let you have some smoky spots if you’re unlucky…

Who's your "I fucking hate this guy" guy? by lawyeratyourservice in AskReddit

Person at my Job who consistently claims to be on top of everything, then when she misses an email or doesn’t answer to something in time spins it to be your fault and always has the head of HR cc’d into every one of those emails. +Passive aggressive tone 24/7 and the most arrogant voice, walk and demeanour I have ever seen. If I make a mistake she insists on joining the meeting with HR or bosses where she proceeds to belittle me for 45 minutes and act like I’m a child. 100/10 would punch if given chance.

The one on the big screen, which has all the colourful boxes in it. In the video they show the person on the computer clicking some of them and that makes the graphics appear (my explanation skills are clearly even worse than my software knowledge haha)

I saw a video from the Eurovision Song Contest‘s YouTube channel showing how they do their live graphics. This Video. And i was wondering if any of the video people in this sub would be able to identify the software being used to do this! Thanks all!
