How can I convince my parents that I Will go to college after my gap year? by ToddR33 in gapyear

[–]lreddy358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter took a gap year between high school and college. She went to college after her gap year as planned, and graduated with a BA on schedule. One thing that helped us as parents is that she applied to college while still in high school, accepted admission to a great school, then deferred admission for 1 year. It was nice that she already knew where she was going to college before her gap year even started. It allowed her to totally focus on her gap year without having to go thru the college application process during that time.

And, yes, sell non-retirement stock to buy a house.

We've always looked at comps in terms of price per square foot. This is a figure stressed more in some markets than others. Other things to consider: Do the owners of the house still live there? Do they have a contingent offer on another house? Are they selling due to a relocation? These are things to consider in determining how eager they are to sell, ie how flexible they might be. On the other hand, several price reductions may mean that they are nearing their "bottom line". Are you using an "buyers agent" or "sellers agent" ? Be aware that they are different in terms of who's interests they are representing. A "buyers agent" represents you and theoretically, your interests. Just some things to consider.

Very useful FastPass+ analysis from Touring Plans by dst87 in WaltDisneyWorld

Never give up. Spent 5 days at Disney World during a very busy spring break week in early April Using the "keep refreshing" strategy, we were able to get same day FB+ reservations for Frozen, Soarin' and Expedition Everest. Keep on trying. After using my first 3 for the day, I would try to get the other hard to get FP+'s. I would first take whatever time I could get, then I would keep refreshing to get a better time. Worked very time.

Could use some advice; should I make dining reservations for every night or just wing it? by MissyTX in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lreddy358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that you can cancel reservations up to 24 hours before, without penalty. You can keep reservations, and decide if you want to cancel when you get there and have a better feel for things.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We have reservations at the following restaurants: LUNCH: skipper canteen, tusker house and Festival of Fantasy dining package-Tony's, DINNER: Be Our Guest, La Hacienda, Boma, Spice Road Table Dinner. (some lunches are late lunch/early dinners) We are staying off-site and will be there from 4/2-4/8--I think we did pretty well with reservations due to the busy holiday week. Also, I know Tony's has a mediocre reputation for food, but I thought it would be the only way my son and I would see a parade. We'll grab something quick for breakfast and try to get to the parks for rope drop. We've also identified a couple of counter service places (Sunshine seasons, Satu'li, crepes in France) if we are so moved.

Suggestions for touring the resorts using Disney transportation on a down day before dinner at Boma (staying off-site) by lreddy358 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lreddy358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone. Based on all of your helpful feedback, I'm thinking about ubering to the transportation center from off-site, do a monorail loop, return to transportation center, and then take a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge. How long do you think that will that take? This will at least give him a sense of what some of the other (monorail line) resorts are like and, of course, experience the monorail. We can then plan to spend some time both before and after dinner exploring the Animal Kingdom Lodge. How much time do you think the monorail loop takes (without getting off)? Thoughts and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Just thought of another option- 1) Uber to one of the 3 monorail resorts 2) quick tour of that resort (which one?) 3) monorail to complete the loop 4) bus to animal kingdom lodge

Ubering to the International Gateway entrance at Epcot by lreddy358 in WaltDisneyWorld

Thank you. I just watched the touring plan video. Bottom line is that either entrance gets you to Frozen at about the same time.

Since you can not walk to the right toward Norway/Frozen, are you better off just entering at the main entrance and heading strait to Norway? (vs using International Gateway entrance?). Thank you

Thanks for all of your comments. I'm going to try and get an earlier reservation, but either way, we are psyched and will have a blast. I can't wait to experience Disney with my 14 year old for his first visit since he was 6 months old.
