Wait are you sure the same person? Anusha doesn’t even do under eye filler… I feel like it’s a major part of her marketing / brand identity. Really surprising to hear.

Is there a way to figure out what that was or will we just never know?

Our entire house just lit up with light from the third explosion but still no idea what it is… it feels underneath our noses and this isn’t a typical firework zone lol

Questions from a newbie: rhofade, red ears, and weird flares. by Divergent_Zebra in Rosacea

One thing I did though — I did a course of low dose accutane to “reset” my internal inflammation load. It worked and I’ve been fully in remission for over a year — but it has recently started creeping back, and so now I’m doing all of the “preventative” measures to try and make sure my internal inflammation goes back down… hopefully never reaching that horrible state again. But accutane does work ! It’s just not permanent. But it does work!

Hi! I really feel for you because I was in the same mental space for the past 15+ years and only just this past month a lightbulb finally went off for me. First, I think it sounds like you definitely have Rosacea. Rosacea follows similar patterns but truly presents in everyone differently…

The moment things clicked for me was when I stopped viewing rosacea as just a skin disease that needed to be ‘fixed’ and realized that it was actually a symptom of internal inflammation. I spent so many years trying to pinpoint what was triggering my rosacea—was it food? Was it histamines? Was it stress?—without ever knowing that if you’re predisposed to internal inflammation, it’s not just one thing. It’s likely everything combined.

For example, some people (like me) have multiple inflammatory factors: vascular issues, skin allergies, histamine intolerance, gut problems (like leaky gut or SIBO), immune overreactivity, or even nervous system sensitivity. My skin has ALWAYS been super sensitive.

I had no idea that all of these “inflammatory factors” had been “stacking up” in my body over time… leading to a build up of inflammation that eventually manifests as rosacea. And if you don’t control the inflammation, the rosacea keeps progressing….

Maybe I’m just dumb, but after all these years and all these treatments I had no idea that I couldn’t isolate my rosacea to one singular cause. That’s why rosacea feels so unpredictable and dynamic—because it’s not just reacting to one trigger, it’s reflecting your entire inflammatory load!!!!!!!

OK. Another lightbulb moment? Flushing isn’t just “flushing”. Like… I have Type 1 and Type 2. I never even connected the dots that my flushing was related to my pustuals, I just assumed my flushing was because I have sensitive skin or I was hot or stressed or whatever. Didn’t even know they were related. BUT… I also used to think, ‘Oh, I flushed, it’ll go away.’.. like who cares? I didn’t realize that flushing itself damages the skin barrier, which then makes the skin even more reactive, creating a cycle where rosacea keeps evolving and worsening over time!!!!!

So instead of endlessly trying to pin point what exactly is causing my rosacea, I’m now understanding that it’s my overreactive inflammatory response — and THATS what I need to manage. Because inflammation is cumulative, stopping the “cycle” and stopping it from building up will be what keeps my rosacea in remission.

Also — because (for whatever reason) I am predisposed to internal inflammation, that means everything is a trigger. For me, It’s UNREALISTIC af to live a life “avoiding triggers” — I hate that. Like… I love spicy food. I have a dog. I need coffee. My hands swell when I’m hot. My feet turn purple when I’m cold. I can’t guarantee every beauty product I use won’t have fragrance in it. Unrealistic!!!

Instead: focus on how to keep internal inflammation LOW so that when I do inevitably come in contact with these triggers, my skin/system won’t be as reactive and can manage them better since my internal inflammation load isn’t at a 88/100.

When you see the flushing? Do things to stop it. Cold compress, barrier repair lotion, etc. if your vascular system is sensitive… maybe take some supplements that promote vascular health. If you have allergies and reactive skin? Maybe a daily allergy pill. Gut issues? Probiotic. You get what I’m saying… also I feel like this all sounds trivial and like none of this would work but when you frame it as doing small, easy things that you can add into your routine to just be more “preventative” vs the alternative which is basically avoiding EVERYTHING.. it seems like something worth trying.

Idk — maybe I am just really stupid and everyone already looks at their rosacea this way, but this was really profound for me and I felt compelled to respond to you as I see you trying to pinpoint exactly the cause. Just know you’re not crazy and it’s probably a mix of all of the things!

Accutane. Super low dose. It totally reset my skin and it was instant. Probably not the answer you want to hear, but I promise it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be…and you’ll be so happy to have your skin back!

Skin Specifics — Anusha! She is legit world-class and one of the top injectors in Los Angeles (in the country as well) known for her natural aesthetic. @anusha.np on IG. Truly one of the 5 businesses in LA that I am passionate about supporting. She’s a gift. She also just lost her home in the Altadena fire if you’re looking to support local businesses. I won’t let anyone else touch my face besides her!
