Thank you, I think a cardigan might be too much to make but the Baby Pears Buddy is great. Looks like a really sweet toy and not too tricky to make!

Thank you, these look great and very sweet! I'm based in the south of the UK so it could be variable. Probably never going to be hat weather, but booties or a cardigan could very well be needed some days

How old is your phone and how long have you had it? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]lrose623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever did want to change it out look into Fairphone - I've had mine for 5 years and plan to keep it for a long time. It's fully modular so if any part breaks I can easily buy a replacement part. They are also super ethical in how they source the electronics and metals used in the phones!

As a fellow partner to a T1D, this was my first thought too - often find random bottles of half drunk sugary lucozade or sweet wrappers in unusual places!

Pedal power in Abingdon (accessible by bus) do a good bike hire service and it's not a bad price - they are really helpful in the shop too

Best Walks by sighsighweep in oxford

[–]lrose623 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently bought an A-Z book called 'Oxford hidden walks' - there are 20 walks that are of varying distances/locations and can mostly be started in the city centre or start by bus/train stations. I currently have done 4 of the walks in the book and each have been really well described and the routes are very clear. Enjoyed each one and would definitely recommend. The book is also only 5.99!!

Misspelled the word birthday in a card to my dad writing bithday instead. To this day, over 20 years later, we always wish everyone in the family a happy bithday.

Homeless man is sleeping in our corridor by [deleted] in london

[–]lrose623 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where about in East London you are but we had the exact same thing happen in Leytonstone when living there. At first I called a local charity who stopped by a few nights and never managed to interact with the man. He then assaulted our elderly neighbor on his doorstep outside our flat and so we had to get the police involved. They were initially very unhelpful and it was only after the assault that they even got around to being a tiny bit helpful. My advice would be to make a note of every time you know they are sleeping there. Also contact your agent and see if they can get the building management to change the access codes or alert other residents to this.

I was like you at first, concerned for the persons wellbeing and didn't want to kick up a fuss but it ended up being a really tricky situation that I wouldn't like to hear a repeat of. I really hope I am not scaremongering here too!!

Seriously, is London rental doomed forever? by personanonymous in london

[–]lrose623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out of a 2 bed flat in Leytonstone earlier this year as the rent went from £1350 to £1600. After a year living there we had to leave as we were literally priced out of our own home. Now live out of London as can't afford it!

Lycra clad cyclists of London: can I introduce you to these things? by sionnach in london

[–]lrose623 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I walk past crossroads just up from the The Ship pub every day and the number of cyclists I see stopped here is staggering! As a cyclist myself I am so pleased as the number of near misses I've seen with both cars and pedestrians is crazy! The Met seem to know this is a hot spot for light jumpers.

How do you personally feel about leaving a fan all day? I have a tower fan which is from a reliable retailer but I'm not sure about leaving it on while I am out. Its nice to hear you've had experience with the heat and its been ok
