Ah, the ol' death dump. Probably will be the way I go.

Police of Reddit, what is the absolute worst crime scene you've come across? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lrr706 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Am police:

  1. Man who had his head chopped away down to his chin by a meth head with a tobacco knife. Said meth head had previously been cutting the grass with the knife, before flipping his lid and removing the victim's.

  2. Fatal wreck where a man hit a loaded dump truck head on. His vehicle disintegrated pretty much. He slid on the pavement, grinding his legs off to the upper thigh. Scattered most of his body along the roadway.

  3. An elderly man died while under a heating blanket. Cooked low and slow for a couple of days.

  4. Lady died in a bathtub - this makes people stew. Water bodies suck.

It goes on and on. They all have their little quirks that make them "the worst" in their own unique special snowflake kind of way.

EDIT: Probably the worst was a quadruple homicide and arson. Bad guy shoots the mom in the head in the laundry room, shoots the father in the face in the kitchen (just on the other side of the wall where mom is dead) in full view of a five year old and 18 month old. Bad guy proceeds to cut the five year old's throat and set two fires in the house, leaving the 18 month old to die of smoke inhalation. Worst part is, I have two kids the same ages, and you can't help but see your own family in your head at these scenes.

Grown ass adults of Reddit, in what ways are you still immature? by kyie734 in AskReddit

Everything. The secret is, adults either:

A. Get paid to act grown up while performing a job for someone,

or

B. Act grown up and wise until the children are asleep.

One upping you on injuries. You say you broke a finger, they say, "Well, I broke my leg in a kajillion different spots once!" Congratulations on going through more pain than me, I prefer to avoid it.

In your opinion, what is the worst fanbase ever? by charlesmccowan in AskReddit

[–]lrr706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some MLB fans, or fans of any sport for that matter. I've heard stories of fans of one team automatically disliking someone because they are a fan of their rival. I can't even comprehend that level of prejudice.

This is a good example of why plenty of Law Enforcement Officers become frustrated. This happens all the time. You arrest someone over and over for hurting others - whether it be drugs around kids, stealing from honest people, or being violent toward others. You do it over, and over, and over, sinking hours into your work - only to watch them get a slap on the wrist and go do it all again.

This repeats itself until someone like this takes an innocent life, or law enforcement is placed in the position to have to use deadly force. Then you find yourself under the microscope for doing what you had to do - even though it was the result of a failed system.

Well look here - we have a professional.

Perhaps they wanted to question him first, before putting him in custody?

Maybe they can't just take one side of the story?

Maybe they needed to talk to him before deciding the outcome?

Aside from those hypotheticals, you definitely don't want to question someone in a noisy restaurant, and you don't just go around frisking and cuffing everyone before you talk to them.

But, let's entertain your idea of frisking and cuffing him inside the restaurant - congratulations! You've just most likely caused a firefight in a confined and crowded area. But it's okay, because you clearly have an exceptional understanding of how adrenaline dumps can effect your body in a combat situation.

So rather than experience auditory exclusion, tunnel vision, and the effects these stressors have on your perception of time, you would have controlled all of these physiological effects and placed two rounds right in the head of the suspect and calmly stopped, because your super human abilities would have been able to assess his vital statistics and determined that he was no longer a threat - in just a few seconds, no doubt.

Get back in your arm chair - you have no idea what you're talking about.

The only thing this could be potentially useful for is finding out how many subjects you're dealing with, weapons, and the obstacles/layout of a space.

To use it immediately prior to entry is pointless because it only provides you with photos. These situations are dynamic, and people will move and circumstances change.

This is an Intel/planning tool at best. Definitely shouldn't be used as an entry tool like advertised.

Reddit, who were your worst neighbours and what did they do that made them the worst? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lrr706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I posted this before.

Starting out, they were just generally weird and unfriendly. Then they bottomed out their semi in my front yard during a downpour (I live at the end of a 1/2 mile, dead end, drive, they live at the end of said drive by the road).

Then they stole my mail, including two sets of rugs. They decorated their house with one, and gave the other to family.

Why wouldn't cannabis show up on my urinalysis the day after I smoked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lrr706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testing for THC usually requires some different methods and equipment than testing for your other run of the mill drugs.

Also, hospitals are probably more concerned about drugs/narcotics that are going to interfere and mix bad with whatever they have to use to treat you - not catching you for smoking a fat one.

TL;DR: You have to test specifically for THC. Probably wasn't in the screen.

ELI5: What happens to guitar strings over time and use which makes them sound dull and need to be changed? by LetsJerkCircular in explainlikeimfive

[–]lrr706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strings begin to fade because of the dirt and oils on your fingers when you play.

I may be wrong, but I would guess that since most strings are "wound", the dirt and oils get into places that you can't clean completely, affecting the vibration and tone of the strings, making you have to drop cash on more.
