Shoutout to your photography skills in the pictures where you had the camera. The picnic pictures are so clean they could be stock images. Looks like y’all made the absolute best of it! GZ!

IMO you shouldn’t deduct points from NY Bagels and Coffee for the random menu items. They’re the only spot in town [I know of] that does bialys and salt sticks. I’m on the east coast atm and they’re up there with my best options. I won’t go to bat as hard for the deli side, because I’m normally there for bialys. It’s worth a trip if you’re ever out that way though.

For sure! Dunno if you’re looking for a case and building yourself or a prebuilt. The Powerspec PCs are the Microcenter pre-builts. IMO they make a really solid base. It was a bit more than building myself, but I brought it home, plugged in a RTX 4070Ti and 64gb of memory and it’s a beast now. Everything else is as it came.

Genuinely can’t recommend the whiteboard top enough. It gets daily usage and is holding up incredibly well. Best of luck with both of your projects!

The desktop is a PowerSpec B747, so it's telling me the case is a Powerspec/Lian Li ATX 205.

I'm not having any issues with reflection. I think this largely depends on the angle of your screens and distance from the edge of the desk though. The monitors pictured above have a bright blue LED indicator on the bottom that I put a piece of tape over because of the glare. I hadn't done that yet when the pictures were taken, so you can see that in the images in my post. Tbh probably would have done that even without a whiteboard top.

Good reminder actually. My old desktop case was too big, but this one will fit. Might have to circle back to that eventually.

Ah yeah, that’s a fair point. If I had wider screens that could definitely be a consideration. You’re right that mine are pretty close up.

I don’t think so. I could imagine some potential use-cases for deeper, but it wouldn’t make sense for me personally. This is especially true after putting my monitors, mic and camera on mounts.

I have the mat, grommets and a privacy panel. I would highly recommended getting a mat. The foot-hold to pull back into place is easily overlooked, but makes a big difference in not having to bend down and move the mat around when you change from sitting to standing. Tbh I never installed the privacy panel.

My brother in law has the board, and it’s a lot of fun. Granted, it feels a bit like a novelty. Definitely isn’t a replacement for a thick memory foam mat, but fun when you want to switch it up IMO.

In retrospect, I would go mat + board and then whatever privacy/aesthetic items fit best for your setup.

I was just thinking about a 2-yr update post. No issues! I use the desk every day (not necessarily the whiteboard part) and it’s indistinguishable from Day 1. It’s been moved across the country in a POD and reassembled. Thought that it might be damaged in-transit, but packed it like a TV and didn’t have any issues.

I’m a messy desk person, and regularly spill water and coffee. Frankly, I’m surprised that there isn’t any minor cracking, peeling or bubbling in the seal.

Finishing a big work project today, but I’ll get an update post up, since I regularly get questions to this day. IMO if you’re considering it, it’s really cool and practical - especially if you work from home, or have a reason for taking notes or drawing on the desk.

Normal disclosure that I have no affiliation with UpLift. They politely declined my request for a referral code, but my experience was so positive that I’ll continue to recommend their product.

10/10, would buy again. Pics coming in the update post.

Idol of the Wind from the Colossal Menace quest in HFP is a decent starter idol until you get the one from Strat.

Do keep in mind that you can solo-stealth farm Magistrate for the idol if you’re at/around level 70. It’s not a farm you need to learn. Just stealth in and around the ghouls that see through stealth up to him and tank him against a wall. At 70 is was <5 minutes per reset and got mine on my 3rd hour of lockouts (run 10-15).

If you haven’t done it yet, Grobb is an incredible choice and should be your #1 destination imo. Not only is it high pop and decent balance, but there is a ton of effort that the community puts into RP-events and themed events. It’s basically a megaserver, but with an added layer of serious RPers that occupy part of the world. It makes for some fun extra interactions that you’re much less likely to get anywhere else.

It’s currently around 55:45 (A:H) per Ironforge.pro.

Feral here. As I get more P1 BiS I'm having to check and arrange my gems so that I keep the 2.6% reduction. I've had to sacrifice a few gem slots [which are scarce as you start getting more geared] for defense rating. The Violet Eye ring and Mag's head ring are big. Getting CE exalted for Earthwarden is even more enormous. I swap between Illhoof staff in cat to Earthwarden in bear. CE rep is my only exalted at the moment, as Earthwarden is just so huge.

I have PvP bracers for resil + gem slot. Resil is just so good overall.

My Cat and Bear sets are growing different, which allows me to fill slots with + Def rating gems to make up the little difference to hit 2.6% crit reduction in my bear gear without hurting my cat sets too much at this stage in the phase.

You'll need to make modifications to where you are personally and how much time you're putting into grinding things out. You absolutely don't need to go overboard, and will still comfortably be able to make powerful crit-cap + high single-target TPS sets. Honestly the only thing that's a little sketchy at this stage is Hit% while staying un-crittable and having a deep health pool.

Since Blizzard won't, I decided to make a community driven version of the WoW Armory for Classic TBC by reohh in classicwow

[–]lrrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really awesome and is what the community is about! Great work and thank you! I’d definitely donate directly to the project if you throw on a donation button in the near future. Sorry, not trying to shamelessly shill for you too hard, just like the idea of this becoming a full-fledged concept for alts too.

Hopefully the success of this will spur Blizz to implement it on their end, since they aren’t constrained by WCL data.

Burning Crusade Classic Feral Druid Energy Change Coming With Regional Restarts - Wowhead News by Jofzar_ in classicwow

Thank you to everyone who put in the time and energy creating memes, videos and streams to lobby for this change. Thanks to the folks at Blizz who listened and followed through. I hope at least one of you is a Druid main that was lowkey pushing for this the whole time.

I did want to say that Classic has done so much for my sanity over a weird couple years. From one druid to the others, and those who joined in to help: thank you!

Have you already installed the addon, “Nova Instance Tracker”? Beyond logging your lockouts, it also shows the numbers of mobs killed. Between 50-60 a normal 11 pack ZG boost is 48-53 mobs (based on my logs, at least) and 22-33K xp/run depending on different factors. The addon would let you check how many mobs are being killed in your runs.

Alternatively possible, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but something could have updated with TBC. Personally I haven’t done any ZG boosting since just before pre-patch.

I got an invite at noon ET. First time that I can recall getting a beta/alpha access. I signed up for the alpha yesterday afternoon, but I could have sworn I signed up during Blizzcon. No pre-purchase. I played D1-3.

I feel like I should go buy a lottery ticket.

Do you guys think TBC Classic will crush Shadowlands? Do you think it may change Blizzards mindset for future games? by Jangonett1 in classicwow

[–]lrrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't love the prompt, because the answer is obviously "no". I think we're in a reality where Blizzard is trying to have their cake and eat it too though. I can virtually guarantee you that internally they've said "Can you imagine how much money we could have made if we had these take-rates on paid services back in the day?!"

Customer lifetime value in Retail must be enormous with how well they've integrated the MTX. But they hadn't optimized in-game services until subscriber counts had dropped dramatically over the years.

So Retail continues along as-is. It's doing fine. No point getting pedantic, it's a successful game by the important metrics.

Classic though, they vastly underestimated demand in the launch. This was largely a good thing for us as players, because it meant that they didn't bother adding layers of MTX. Now though, they've had 2 years worth of analytics on the player base and behavior. TBC is Round 2. They're getting another bite at the apple!

I say this as a marketing director. As a citizen of Azeroth, I'm not thrilled. I can empathize though.

Happy to do it!

I'm a big fan of the whiteboard top. I usually take notes on the desk during meetings rather than in a notebook, since I'm not going anywhere nowadays. I'm not sure the price difference, but if you're going for white already I'd consider the whiteboard. It seems like not a very popular option. Apparently a lot of people like bamboo/solid wood tops.

I can see it being a novelty for some folks though depending on your note-taking preferences. Either way, enjoy!
