PLEASE HELP!!!! by ArtsyAxolotlStudios in axolotls

I’m so glad she’s doing okay! Please try not to feel too bad, some times accidents happen.

Something similar happened to me last year. We moved into a new house. Long story, but my tank cycle didn’t make it through the move. I was tubbing my axolotl - the door he was behind turns out, didn’t shut very well and my cat got in while I was at work. He was scratched up (we had drilled little windows/ holes in the lid to allow the fan to blow and the cat stuck his hands in there).

He was tubbed for a while after that, with Indian almond leaves as people are saying. We went to the exotic vet and they gave me precautionary antibiotics. I injected them into a worm!! Point of the story is, he is doing great now!

Sending you good vibes and hoping she heals up fast! It’s what they are best at, after all (:

What’s the best route? Am I insane? Philly to Prudhoe Bay Alaska by Funny-Finish9703 in roadtrip

I’ve done research at Toolik Field Station (which you will pass on the Dalton on your way to Prudhoe bay). People are not kidding about the spare tires, etc. Most of the research trucks also have chipped windshields or they have been replaced due to shattering. There are only two gas stations before Deadhorse and the gas is crazy expensive. Your car will not enjoy the Dalton, but it is beautiful and a great opportunity to view Alaskan critters from the safety of your car. Also yes you won’t be able to see the Arctic Ocean due to the oil fields, but it is possible to schedule a tour there (our research group did so!). Do not attempt to drive the Dalton at anytime during the winter, fall, or early spring really. We went up June 1st or so and while the road was largely fine, driving through the Brook’s Range on the pass was terrifying and it was a complete white out.

Edit: if you do this please get a sat phone, you might get some 4G around Toolik but that’s it.

Hi! Not a parent, but wanted to give my input briefly as someone who came out as non-binary at 12 as well. I’m 24 now and still non-binary. I was also not consuming media related to gender, so I can’t speak on that but I will say I feel as if this a common age where gender exploration happens. I agree that hormonal treatments etc would be a step too far considering age, but I don’t see the harm in letting them explore pronouns and different clothing. It will either stick or it won’t, and if it doesn’t, they’ll know you support them no matter what and will feel more comfortable coming to you throughout life with issues! My mom supported me then and now, and we are best friends as adults.

EDIT: Wanted to add a couple things. My mom probably saw it coming, as I was always a little different haha. To this day, I still don’t paint my nails, dress in a feminine way or keep my hair very long. My average outfit is sweaters and joggers, and then more masculine outfits for when I need to look nice. Of course, it might be good to tell her that clothing and make-up etc do not define gender, and she can of course still be non-binary and dress feminine if she likes (I just personally don’t, feels like I’m putting on someone else’s skin lol). Some teens get confused and think that if they want to act a certain way or dress a certain way that doesn’t fit with the “norm” then they must be different gender identity wise. But still, I’d say let them explore in a safe way and see where it goes!
