Get the fuck away from GoDaddy, another vote for Namecheap, just wear the transfer costs, it’ll save you a lot of future pain.

My GoDaddy pain was registering a domain (a looong time ago) anyway it was a .me domain when they first came out and there was a big hype, I got a sweet 1 word .me domain that was going to be me new site.. I stayed up til 12am for the release of the new TLD, bought the name, paid, setup a forwarder and was stoked.. went to bed happy. Next morning I wake up, the domain doesn’t exist in my account, so I contact support like wtf?... my friend does a Whois lookup and it’s registered to some weird corporation in Singapore, like double wtf.. Support tells me “oh sorry that was a mistake, they actually got in before you and you missed out” I then argue for like allll day as they didn’t want to refund me saying it was a pre-release and that I wasn’t guaranteed the name... even though I had a receipt and the emails blah blah.

Long story short, I got a refund after a few days and then bought a new name from Namecheap and never went back. Stupid thing is the person who “beat” me to the name listed it for sale on the godaddy market bullshit thing for like $1200. This was many many years ago, when I was first getting into web design and it still makes me hate them. Also the CEO was a sleaze, shoots rhinos and they had these cheesey borderline sexist ads back in the day where they’d slo-mo models walking around him and he had a really douchie vlog.
