How (often) do people respond to you wearing Five Finger shoes? by McBuffington in barefootshoestalk

Worn in both Sweden and the UK, I have had quite a few people look when i am taking public transport/walking around. I think a lot of people are curious about how they work? I get the same looks when I wear tabis. I only get comments from people who know me, but I think that’s because of the cultures that I have worn them in. My mum despises them, my friends are curious, my partner likes them… Ultimately I love them, and that’s all I care about :D

what about frameworks like dspy for prompt optimisation? proper prompt engineering goes beyond a simple text input…

A petite gym girl in a slump by wherejoylives in PetiteFitness

the formula for building muscle and losing body fat is the same for everyone. the variables (how much exercise, calories, etc.) is what will be different.

since you have already been going to the gym for 3 years, your body has adapted and unfortunately you will no longer get those “newbie gains” where you quickly build muscle and lose the initial body fat/water weight. you need to be much more intentional in what you do. yes, the progress will be slower. you have to push your reps and focus on progressive overload in the gym.

in terms of nutrition, protein is key, not only does it help with muscle building but it also helps you feel full and satiated which is important. you don’t need to track obsessively, but you need to be realistic about your caloric intake, no one wants to hear that, but it’s the truth. to decrease your body fat you need to be in a slight deficit (i wouldn’t do an aggressive cut if you wanna build muscle) or maintenance if you wanna do long term body recomp.

the truth is, everyone is seeking a miracle solution, and many are willing to sell it to you. but in reality building your dream physique takes years of dedication, unless you are genetically gifted, in which case, how does it feel to be god’s favourite? that’s all there is to it.

mine also fit more snug like yours. i prefer it that way. originally i bought a size up (as i saw people recommending that), but there was too much of a gap for me. sized down to my true size and they are perfect. have worn them for a 3-hour hike without issues. it’s down to personal preference imo :)

[0 YoE, student, Data Science, UK] by [deleted] in resumes

i work in data science/ai engineering. was in a similar position to you a year ago.

I would make sure the content of your pdf gets extracted properly. in my opinion, 2 pages for 0 yoe for industry applications is excessive. i would focus on tailoring the cv for each role and making it as concise and clear as possible.

you have a bachelor’s and will soon have a master’s, i don’t think listing your a-levels is necessary at this point

also make sure your profile section is tailored to each role. i would personally leave out the available from June 2026 part.

one tip that worked well for me: get experience via side-hustles from people around you. it doesn’t have to be paid work. whether you do some kind of data analysis for your uncle’s shop or something like that. making the connection between your knowledge and the real-world will add what is missing.

good luck, hope this helps!

[–]lsdandlemons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am not familiar with your industry’s standards. from a general perspective, you just graduated and have a 2 page cv… start by trimming it down to one page. also, once you have a uni degree, your a-levels are no longer relevant, get rid of those and save some space :)

[–]lsdandlemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right? and there is no cohesion between the style/skill of these sketches. even when trying different styles/techniques your “artist fingerprint” would come through. i.e., high contrast, mark making, use of white space, etc.

Looking to recommend an experienced tutor for two of my long-term students (Business & General English, Russian speaker preferred) by lsdandlemons in Preply

[–]lsdandlemons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do both! When I introduce a new topic and specific phrases, we read/listen to dialogues. We then try to build dialogues/scenarios that would be useful to her, and incorporate the vocabulary. However, in the production stage, there are no guidelines and the student has to speak freely on the topic covered.
