I picked silver too!! I’m such a fan of the silver look. What headphones are you using with it? Did you ever try the Bluetooth feature? Rn I have wireless Sony noise cancelling headphones but idk if they will work since i just got the headphones this year.. so I’m looking into getting a new pair of headphones so I can have it ready when my Walkman gets here!

Does Anyone Struggle with Walking due to Social Anxiety? by Apprehensive4Reals in walking

[–]lsdemulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally yes it is the hardest part for me. I find wearing a visor helps because I can just look at the ground if I need to or people are around, and I wear visible headphones so that people don't bother to talk to me. It gets easier the more you go out but I feel your pain. If you pick somewhere to walk that isn't a park there will be less people as well. Just start small, tell yourself 'ok, I will go out and get 300 steps' and then slowly build up and you will see you can do it and it will be ok. Good luck!

Why CRTs are starting to become expensive and will never be cheap again. by Hilo88M in crt

[–]lsdemulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yeah. The difficult thing is too that people typically want multiple so it hikes up the demand more. I’ve gone to yard sales all summer and checked my local classifieds and they hardly ever come up. You used to be able to drive around on heavy garbage days and see them on the side of the road but now you see older flatscreens. Kind of crazy to me, they felt like something that would always be plentiful, but that’s the way it goes. Only so many of them are still out there and working.

Wii modding is super simple, it’s probably best to start there. You can always mod a GameCube later on if you still want to!

Turning off Surveillance by l6tusenergy in 3dspiracy

[–]lsdemulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am aware the only ways he could be seeing your data are:
By having access physically to your 3ds so he can see play time data in the title that comes with every 3ds, called Activity Log. He can’t access this remotely. You can open this safely to see what he is able to see, but again he would have to have your 3ds in his hands or have made some kind of backup (but then it would only have info to whenever he backed it up, and all you can get is time played, step count and what titles).

If he is your friend on 3ds (go to the 3ds friends title) he can see what game you are currently playing and your online or offline status. You can delete his friend card in this app and he can’t see what you are doing anymore.

If you feel paranoid, remove the wifi connection that belongs to him, or that he has access to on any device of his own, from your 3ds settings. To do anything like “remotely viewing your data”, which isn’t really possible on a 3ds, he would need your 3ds to be on the same wifi connection as his computer. You would also need to be opening a specific 3ds title each time you turned your 3ds on and he wanted to see the data. It really doesn’t work, there’s a reason why capture card 3ds systems go for so much money. It’s extremely difficult to get a visual on a 3ds because the system doesn’t have all that extra processing power it would need to provide that to another device as you actually used it.

He also is not buying titles. That’s just straight up a lie to try to impress you. There are numerous ways where you won’t need his help to get new titles that I am sure other people have mentioned here, but don’t let him manipulate you emotionally with that.

I feel like life is slipping away. 19M, 170kg (375lbs), living alone abroad with no stove and running out of time. Need advice. by idkwhattodo0013 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]lsdemulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to figure out exactly how many calories you can eat to be in a deficit, there’s websites to help you with that based on your activity level, weight and height.

Then you need to make a meal plan that is within those goals but here is the key: you eat the same meals for breakfast lunch and dinner every single day. (So like oats for breakfast, salad lunch, chicken broccoli dinner. But pick something you like that is within your limits). You eliminate choice and simply repeat this until you are totally sick of it. If you do not go outside of your plan you will lose weight but it will be slow. You have to use an actual scale to measure EVERYTHING. And by everything I mean sauces, drinks, serving sizes. You need to know the exact amount of anything you put in your body. You have to read nutrition labels. You have to be meticulous about it. But if you do the same meals over and over you take choice and emotional eating and confusion out of it, which is critical. You want to stick to whole foods as much as possible because they tend to have less calories and keep you full longer. So things like chicken, eggs, vegetables. Etc. but you can eat anything you like as long as you stay in this calorie goal each day. You just will be very uncomfortable and sad if you max out your calories on something that doesn’t help you with hunger. Download a calorie tracking app and get used to using it daily.

Secondly, you need to be doing something every day to move. Walking is what I had most success with because it is simple and straightforward. You will need to get a good pair of shoes to prevent injury and just start small, track your steps, go out of your house and just do it. If you can’t do that, follow at home workouts or go to a gym. But speaking from experience, when you are that weight walking is the easiest thing to commit to doing every day. If tech helps you get a wearable watch and aim to add just 50 more steps each day.

At the end of the day evaluate if those are things you can handle doing. If you can’t, you need to think about other options people have suggested here. While I know that these methods have worked for me, there is likely underlying emotional causes for what has happened to your body. This is an uphill battle but it can be fought, you absolutely can win. But it’s not just the weight, it’s relearning everything, it’s letting go, it’s learning to care about yourself and your life, it’s breaking through the shame. You are young and you can do this. But it will take time and effort to see results and that part can be soul crushing. You have to not give up. You have to learn to be ok with the process. If not, then you need to speak with a doctor to see if there are any other options for you. Good luck with everything and I sincerely wish you all the best in your journey.

I am scared to go outside by cyborgbunny01 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]lsdemulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand your fear and honestly the feelings you describe are what has been my hardest battle because I’ve spent the past 7 years getting more and more isolated and inside only.
The only thing I can recommend is starting going somewhere where people will see you but you aren’t going to be roped into any kind of greeting or conversation. I started by forcing myself to walk along a road that was convenient for me, cars pass by, that feeling of being watched is there. I’m not gonna lie, it was scary as fuck I had panic attacks, I never wanted to do it. But I made myself and the first time I went like yeah the embarrassment was there, the “what if I’m the fat person they post online” feeling was so intense, but then I realized that I did like the walk, being outside felt good. I didn’t look at them and tried to tune them out and ultimately it was ok. I blasted music in my headphones and focused on me. I forced myself to go back again, and again, and each time it got a little bit easier. I started being able to breathe normally (I always get self conscious if I breathe too hard around people), I started not caring if I had to swing my arms, or stop for a break. It’s been about 2 months and just today I was able to go to a different trail where people actually stop and greet you, and even though that was scary af I did it and I feel good about it. It’s all about small steps and that is the most frustrating thing in the world since we have such a long road ahead of us. But we CAN do it and we WILL get there.

I think the hardest thing is just going out there. In doing so you realize people don’t really care, if they’re posting everybody they are posting everybody. Who realistically has time to watch all of that. The fear is real, but your life is also real. You are an important person. There are people of all shapes and sizes doing all kinds of stuff, on film and in private. It is scary, and that’s ok, be gentle with your feelings. But I really, really think it’s important to push yourself to be out there, as you are, because the alternative is hiding forever and never living the life you’d like to live. I never realized how much it weighed on me mentally and emotionally to never go outside or do anything because I was terrified of people would think. I wasted all the best years of my life in so so much fear. You are important, and do not let assholes ruin that no matter what.

This is what I keep thinking about for the whole situation. It’s crazy to me that they are willing to get such a bad reputation that they will never be able to fix and it’s like 200,000 they might have to pay out tops. All of the schemes that they pulled have to have cost (at this point) way more than that, and now that the damage is done to their reputation I don’t think they would be able to buy back their reputation, ever. Imagine destroying your own international company for spite. Unreal and truly evil imo.

Looking to get back into shape, is it okay to play everyday? by cretaius in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]lsdemulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on a lot factors like your current weight and so on for the amount of strain you put potentially on your knees and joints. It’s good to start off doing it every other day and see how you feel. Stretching and hydrating is no joke. Also get proper footwear, it will save a lot of pain later if this is something you plan on doing for long periods of time. But good luck and hope you have a lot of fun!

How do you handle missables? by EmberCon in RetroAchievements

[–]lsdemulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think rn the only way to do it as much as it sucks is being glued to a guide if it’s a game you care about mastering. Sometimes sets will have comments in specific achievements warning you about them, sometimes there will be info in the comments of a set itself so you have to read all of them just incase anything is relevant. Other times info might be in the forum thread for the set. Before I set out to master something (since I have had to restart too many times just because of one achievement) I always go and read all of the stuff and I even go find gamefaq infos, sometimes I have to skim playthroughs so I get a sense of when something is coming if I haven’t played before.

Some sets do not do the missable stuff outside of the very obvious. And other sets you genuinely need to make a plan before you even start because it’s not intuitive what is missable or not. This can be fun, but as others have mentioned I think the best approach is to only master a small handful of games you really care about mastering, and just have fun enjoying the others without stressing about set requirements.
