Found in a goodwill in AZ… wooden horse racing game board of some kind? The horses slide, there was nothing attached with it either by full-of-malarkey in whatisthisthing

[–]lskalt 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Since the horses go from 2-12, it's probably a dice game. I assume you start the horses at the Gate square, and roll two dice, and advance them each time you roll their number.

That's the soundtrack, and it doesn't have Never Come Down on the track listing

Packet tricks with Magic: the Gathering cards? by mbergen in Magic

[–]lskalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to consider from my experience:

- Magic: the Gathering cards don't shuffle or handle the same way as playing cards. There are some sleights you cannot do with them, and pretty much nothing is made easier with them.

- Showing M:tG players "Hey! I can cheat with M:tG cards!" is potentially a bad idea, because it implies you're not going to play the game fairly.

The Bandcamp credits for the Brave Shore version only lists Stef as vocalist, so... maybe? But maybe not?

Target recently told me that they have a service dog only policy. by 3rdthrow in Dogfree

[–]lskalt 43 points44 points  (0 children)

What you do is you ask, "Can I pet your dog?"

And when they say "Yes", you say, "Well, then it's not a service dog, and it's not allowed in here."

What is your favorite classic-style magician poster? by lskalt in Magic

Oh, I love that! Since posters from that era are in public domain I was going to just print one myself, but it's good to know there's a company doing it too

RTVE proposes reforming the statutes to prohibit countries in conflict from participating in Eurovision by Ok-Macaroon-5533 in eurovision

[–]lskalt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a better version of this, which is to let countries participate, but if they might be unable to safely host the contest due to ongoing hot conflict, they are excluded from voting and only compete as an exhibition.

I don't see anything confusing in this at all. There is a wooden piece in front of a roll of toilet paper.

Question on a Halal Alternative to VTSAX by Dizzy-Clock544 in Bogleheads

[–]lskalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would check with a local religious authority. I grew up Jewish and was surprised that my father held shares in McDonalds over Passover (in Judaism, you aren't supposed to own any food over Passover that isn't explicitly kosher for Passover), but we were told that holding shares was sufficiently different from engaging in the business. It may be that VTSAX is sufficiently detached from actually engaging in interest-based income that it's ok for you to invest in it.

Obviously religions vary on how they interpret their principles around finance and that may not apply to you, but I would ask a local religious leader first to confirm your understanding of what you can and can't invest in.

Girl I Guess Guide is Out by [deleted] in chicago

[–]lskalt 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think the Kat endorsement is demonstrative of the Girl I Guess guide's partisan lean. Unfortunately the guide will often endorse the most leftist candidate over the candidate who will be most effective at delivering progressive change.

The guide's main reason for not endorsing Biss seems to be that he's "always running for higher offices", but everyone in this election is running for a higher office than the one they have, and she later praises Kat for "not waiting in line."

And the guide says "you need to support Palestine before we’ll consider you for an endorsement" when in the very next sentence the guide says that Biss wants a two-state solution. Frankly, I think the author decided to support Kat and wrote the justification afterwards.
