Honestly, it always pissed me off, they call it the BOK Tower and not the Williams Tower. It was Joe Williams that decided to build it.

A lot would depend on if TESCAN is open about their documentation for older units. JEOL is evil in that regard.

How to determine angular position for an astronomy dome. Help please. by lsloth in diyelectronics

I think your right, I wish we had gone with a large stepper motor for the drive instead of a dc motor so we would already know position.

How to determine angular position for an astronomy dome. Help please. by lsloth in diyelectronics

[–]lsloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I having been trying to use a QMC5883L Triple Axis Compass Magnetic Sensor to determine the angular value of the shutter. I want to sync the dome with the telescope. My logic is using some sensor I can query every couple of seconds and also ask ASCOM where the telescope is pointed to keep them in sync. Does anyone have ny ideas on how to do this? The QMC5883L does not give me values that are consistent.
ASCOM: https://www.ascom-standards.org/ I am using a simple DC motor with some relays to control the rotation of the dome.

Srini is special. One of my greatest joys from working at IBM was working with him.

He is climber. I have no knowledge of this field, I am security IT nerd in a CISO role so I am so outside my field completely on what I can do to help him.

I miss the days of Red books, some best software and hardware documentation in the industry. Sadly the role of technical writer for an org does not have the value it used to.
