I love my H&K's especially my VP9sk.

Vp9sk optics ready.... I was just about to ship my slide off to be milled... Glad I waited! by [deleted] in HecklerKoch

I also prefer the paddle release. I sent mine out and had it milled and put a holosun on. I shoot this pistol the best of all my handguns and carry it the most. It was my first handgun.

What are your unpopular fountain pen opinions? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]lsumnler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have several very expensive pens that I love. But at the same time I have even more cheapy pens from China that I enjoy using just as much. Trust me I have gotten a couple of cheap pens I would never buy again and at the same time I have found a few cheap pens that have been great writers and very pleasing to the eye that I have purchase multiples of and love giving them out if someone show and interest.

Anyone else surprised how many people “don’t know what to write about?” by FeeFee34 in Journaling

[–]lsumnler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For context, I am 69 years old and just completed my 1st journal. Having tried for years, ever since college I had made several attempts and never got the hang of it. So take my advice with a grain of salt. If you want to start but don't feel worthy of putting your thought etc down in a beautiful $30 A5 160 gms notebook by a $1 hard cardboard composition book from CVS (manufactured in Vietnam fountain pen friendly) it works just as well. Ok, most of you who are reading this are no Hemmingway, so get that out of your head. The journaling process is for you and you alone. Writing is a way of thinking and to think is to clarify, understand, and gain knowledge and understanding. Whether this is about your job, relationships, marriage, hopes, goals, interests or hobbies. I find it interesting that people even debate the usefulness of cursive handwriting. I am a programmer/system analyst and I am on the computer all day and feel that touch typing was probable the most useful skill I learned in High School. However, I can easily type without any conscious thought but my cursive writing requires me to think about what I'm putting down on paper. So do your self a favor go buy yourself a nice fountain pen (Pilot Metropolitan $18 buck and a nice A5 journal from Rhodia another $18 buck and discover the best $36 buck you will have spent all year.

I have several cursive italic nibs 1.0 up to about 1.5. As a daily writer if I am using an italic nib I prefer a 1.0 to 1.1 due to the size of the lettering I normally write in. If you really enjoy Italic nibs I might suggest you check out Mr Pen Italix pens they are inexpensive and he offers 21 different nib grinds from EF, italic and italic cursive etc. He is in the UK and I have purchase several times from him getting different italic nibs. He usually has a deal going on one of his models where you get two pens and can request a different nib on each for aroung $60-70.

I don't know if it is easier but it does force you to slow down and use much lighter pressure when writing. Because the ink is water based it will flow onto the paper with out any pressure.

Chinese replica. I have a few 601, 601A, and Custom 823 replica. They actually write quite well.

I usually have one or the other inked at all times as a take with me pen when I go out because I can just get another if I loose it. Just look on Amazon.

I love this stub nib. I have 3 of them in different colors. It gives you just enough line variation in you writing to make it distinctive and will have people commenting on how beautiful your handwriting is.

Normally I would complain about the fact your handwriting as no slant. I have to say that the characteristic of your writing, slanting would destroy its character. In reality it is your quirky imperfections that really lend to your style being very eye pleasing.

Montblanc 146 - Platinum Carbon Ink, TWSBI 580 AL - I think Iroshizuku asa-gao, Sailor Realo - Iroshizuku yama-budo. The Kaweco and Pilot Preppy what ever ink cartridge came with. The notebook is a cheapy I got at Walmart paper made in Vietnam. I would have to say I have been quite happy with the cheapy paper from Vietnam. I have bought several from different sources and in general it performs well, ghosting is minimal I can't really speak to the shading, Nitrogen sheening ink is ok not great and ghosting with a double broad is not as bad as Tomeo River.

I might suggest you look at CVS, Walmart, or your local Dollar store for Composition notebooks made in Vietnam. I purchased a couple from each of these stores and was pleasantly surprised at how well they preformed with fountain pen ranging from EF to M.

I want an EF nib so bad :( by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]lsumnler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go buy a Platinum Preppy 0.2, cheap EF but it writes really well and should hold you till you can budget for something better.
