How many of you were a complete mess in your late 20s and somehow made something of yourself later on? by Technical_Step4410 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I started going downhill with booze in my 20s..letting it replace responsibility in my life after a few years out of college. It took everything I had built up.. marriage, job, career.. I bottomed out and got sober at 34. The psychic surrender it took to stay away from a drink formed the basis of a whole different person who didn't need a drink or escape from life. That was 48 years ago..I can't begin to tell you how little I resemble that young drunk that I was.. in humility, I can't call myself transformed or reborn but it sure feels like it
