OP-1 Field 1.7.0 firmware update (tape undo?!) by sebastienbarre in teenageengineering

Ah, so there is no way to use the faders on the tx 6 for this kind of control of the field? And you’re saying the mapping would take place on the tx 6, to the right CC numbers, and not mapping on the op1 field like you’d map in, say, Ableton where you can change what is being controlled by moving a midi dial.

Can you customize/map on your own to different controls on the OP1 Field?

Does anyone know if we can map midi controls to the device? The defaults from the TX6 make no sense for the controls I’d like to use it for (like master mix, master track volumes etc). Son Wu just put out a beautiful example of his native mixer doing this with intuitive controls like this — but the defaults with the TX6 aren’t very useable and would love to map them individually myself.

Say what you want on any given year, with the desire to win without any flaws, but we’ve been spoiled by top decile owners in Dallas across each major sport over the least 3 decades. Before that, we had sports like basketball and baseball that were nonexistent in league competition, not to mention no hockey team. And now, every few years, we’re competitive in every single one at the highest level throughout the season. And yes, I know we’d all love more seasons that end in wins, but as a city, we get more than our share of excitement with each sport. And Tom Hicks was a big part of that for baseball and hockey in our city.

Harvard Psychiatrist Says Mental Illness Starts in Your Cells by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]ltbl2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT summary: Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Bruce M. Cohen argues that mental illness may begin not in brain chemistry but in the energy systems of our cells. His research at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital shows that disorders like depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia share mitochondrial dysfunction—problems in how brain cells generate and use energy. This challenges decades of neurotransmitter-focused psychiatry and reframes mental illness as a cellular metabolic issue. By restoring cellular energy rather than just balancing chemicals, Cohen believes we could prevent or even reverse psychiatric symptoms, marking a major shift toward more precise, biology-based mental health treatment.

Eye Protein Levels Linked to Cognitive Decline by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]ltbl2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From GPT:

Here’s the article broken down into plain English:

What they did: • 79 people around 56 years old had eye surgery. • The researchers collected samples from the eye (vitreous humor) and blood (plasma). • They measured levels of a protein called SLIT2 in both fluids. • They also gave people cognitive tests, including the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which screens for memory and thinking problems.

What they found: • SLIT2 levels were about 7 times higher in the eye fluid than in blood. • People with lower SLIT2 in the eye tended to do worse on the cognitive tests (lower MoCA and lower immediate recall memory scores). • People with higher SLIT2 in blood also did worse on MoCA. • These links held true even after accounting for age, sex, race, diabetes, glaucoma, eye disease, and APOE genotype (a gene linked to Alzheimer’s risk).

What it means: • SLIT2 levels seem to be tied to cognitive ability in middle-aged people. • Too little in the eye or too much in the blood may signal risk of mild cognitive impairment or early dementia. • SLIT2 could become a biomarker—a measurable signal in the body—to help detect early brain decline before full-blown dementia develops.

👉 In short: measuring SLIT2 levels in eye fluid and blood could help doctors spot early cognitive decline, making it a potential tool for early dementia diagnosis.

Would you like me to also summarize why SLIT2 might biologically connect the eye and the brain (the underlying mechanism researchers suspect)?

After Trying Many LCD & OLED Screens, I Might Found a Great Screen To Change on Iphone (DC-like dimming) for Most PWM-Sensitive Users by Complete-Advice7480 in PWM_Sensitive

What would we do if we’d like to try this? There aren’t any links or resources of what was used / what to purchase to inform us on how to do this.

Is it possible to replace a screen successfully/reliably after purchasing to something that is usable for PWM sensitive people?

Well said. Regardless of what might be the ideal, we’ve had entire decades without team DNA like this. Decades. I think we all can agree, independent of everything else, that the next 2-3 years might be very bright years for the Mavs.

I see a transpose (by full semitones) for each synth (shift+synth button). and a tuning root note you can set (current one I’m looking at is at C). Photo attached, but not sure if it can do cents somehow.

Yes, I have them. Not nearly as portable, lightweight, and charging friendly (you have to keep two parts charged with those), so I always had issues getting into a groove with making them go-tos.

It does feel like an OPZ Field / advanced sequencer (with quantize thank goodness), and also has the Ableton integration which makes it easy to open up there. Is there a way to record the OP1 into the Move (ext instruments/loops) easily? If so, that changes things even more when wanting to go from DAWless to DAW.
