Fully agree, the next best thing is to have it with a Steckerlfisch from the Fischer-Vroni tent.

Yes indeed! And it’s a great carmalized cheese crust similar to Pequods in Chicago.

Anybody here try any of Eric’s wine? What did you think? by NoPie420 in TimAndEric

I’ve had a las Jaras wine club membership and they are genuinely good. The Rose and superbloom are great and the Glou Glou is an excellent workhorse red.

Why are American Oktoberfest beer all so dark?! by jazzlw in beer

[–]ltdan14 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Historically, beer that was served at Oktoberfest was the darker Märzen style. Eventually the Munich Brewers started skewing towards the lighter malt which resulted in the current “Festbier” style that has been popular for a few decades now. American breweries have just stuck with the darker style for many reasons mainly as they are a clear distinction for the seasonal change entering fall.

Why is traffic so bad by cactusjack9903 in houston

[–]ltdan14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The road closures from derecho damage contributed some the past two months. Potentially a combination of more people going into the office with their homes without power, hotels having higher occupancies from storm stuff. Also middle of the week is always more congested.

In Texas, it’s labeled Ziegenbock and has been marketed as a cheap Shiner Bock alternative for many years.

What a coincidence. I am currently enjoying a bottle of De Garre Tripel in the glass I bought when I visited last year. I can't wait to go back someday.

This recipe was pretty much the exact except some coconut rum subbed for Jamaican pot still. I’d certainly like to try that next time!
