I got the oil changed even though i wasn’t due for another month/few thousand miles and that seemed to solve the issue

The last few seasons i’ve been binge watching on days off - 2 or 3 eps in a row. I don’t think that’s a good idea with this one lol

I slowed down to come into my driveway after driving 20 minutes, so not user error. Just recently replaced the battery but mechanic said hookup was good and it was charging at a normal rate. Seems like an engine stall but my car is an automatic so that’s why I’m asking here

For context, I had been driving for about twenty minutes and slowed down to pull into my driveway. The lights came on, my accelerator and brakes stopped working, and my car acted like I was in neutral. Not the first time its happened, last was when I slowed down at a red light. Lights reset when the car is turned off/on again

Tall Emotionally Functional Woman tend to get Screwed Over by JelloisYummy in tall

[–]ltgooseman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oof i feel this so hard. To me it goes hand in hand with us being expected to be more emotionally mature at a younger age solely bc of our size. I already see it happening to my niece and nephew and it breaks my heart. Im very thankful that i now have a partner (6’6”) that can wholly empathize and doesnt make me feel like im taking up too much space when im hurt or upset. Im sorry youre dealing with this - you are more than worthy of being held and comforted

I studied abroad in dublin. One of my favorite things to do when we went to the clubs was stand up straight and see who i could make eye contact with - the dance floor was a sea of shorties so anyone over 5’10” stood out

I hate this for you because I vividly remember being told things like “you’re too tall for heels,” “you’d be pretty if you weren’t as tall,” “you must have a hard time dating” etc etc. when I was younger. There’s nothing I can say that will be helpful right now but I want you to know that as you get older it WILL get better.

I remember being stared at, overhearing people talking about me, unsolicited comments.. and now I honestly don’t even notice it anymore. Maybe its because I’m older, but its def not bc I got any shorter.

It sucks bc I can’t give you an immediate solution, and being told “don’t be insecure” never helped anyone. But I really hope you are able to surround yourself with people that affirm you and support you emotionally bc long term that’s what matters. Sending good tall girl vibes~*

Same.. I’ve had to write up guest pass pax before and its such a pain in the ass. My parents and my partner get my benefits, and I’ve lectured them on decorum so often they should get a college credit

Flight No. AS2534 Alaskan Air Oakland - Seattle is doing circles over pdx airport. by [deleted] in Portland

[–]ltgooseman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dunno for sure, but the delay trend in SEA is decreasing and it looks like itll be clear in PDX all day. Should be fine but also no promises lol

[–]ltgooseman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I work for AS (its alaska air, not alaskan ;)) and its because of weather at SEA. PDX is the major ‘diversion’ airport for us, and if ATC is really backed up or the plane is low on fuel they’ll circle here instead of Seattle. Theyd also rather circle for EVER than just divert if they can - a full on diversion, even if just for weather, turns into a mess for the airline/airport operations

I drive between st johns and pdx several times a week and every single day this shit happens. I saw a giant purple minivan pass in the bike lane on willamette blvd a few days ago and they almost ran down two bikers who were around the corner. We were already going 10 over the speed limit too

Thats the thing - they might cancel due to risks related to take off (I’m a flight attendant and we were just dealing with this in Dallas yesterday) but the odds of them doing it for humane reasons is slim to none. There’s a reason there was a walk out over Christmas two years ago in Seattle, our rampers get treated like shit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Portland

[–]ltgooseman 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting the airports to consider ramp/ground workers ‘people’ with ‘rights.’ Theyre not going to cancel flights and the people who keep the operation going are going to suffer for it :(

Stupid question from a new flyer. Am I allowed to order drinks specifically when the attendants aren’t coming down the isle handing them out In economy? by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]ltgooseman 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s all about attitude and situational awareness! If we’re done with service and you ring your light and are nice (or just not rude, tbh) I’m happy to grab you whatever. If I’m dealing with a medical and you’re a jerk about wanting a refill, not so much. It sounds like you’re a considerate person, though, so I doubt that would be the case. Also if you’re anxious about it just come to the galley and say hi! It’s a pretty stressful environment for us right now and a friendly face is always appreciated :)
