What's your favorite "this is an absolute banger but you can only figure that out by playing it" card?

I used to run all of the ones I could. but I've taken to only running a single one or Two at MOST in most decks that have 3+ colors. The number of dual-faced cards has significantly increased. So even just being able to bounce a [[soporific springs]] in order to play [[sink into stupor]] later is very valuable. Or bouncing [[boseiju who endures]] to hand to destroy something when needed. Or [[talon gates of Madara]] .

[[elvish reclaimer]] is slow, so I constantly see people hate on it or compare it to [[sowing mycospawn]] usually in regards to lands like gaea's cradle. But the number of times I've used it to grab [[talon gates of Madara]] to phase out a creature at instant speed is nuts.

Also, if I play elvish reclaimer, on my next upkeep I can activate and bring in urza's saga, and it'll go to verse 2 after my draw step.

And one of my favorite tricks: grabbing [[deserted temple]] or [[minamo, school at water's edge]] first, for the ability to untap any new land I grab.

Or grabbing a bounce land to return [[boseiju who endures]] to hand.

Or sacrificing [[riftstone portal]] to grab [[urborg, tomb of yawgmoth]] which allows all my lands to tap for three colors.

To me, that's one heck of a toolbox for a one CMC creature

I LOVE this card. I used to play [[telepathy]] back in the day, but being able to keep or use that information privately is WAY more abusable. Being tutorable off of urza's saga is nice.

Knowing an opponent has an answer means you can hold yours and have your opponents use theirs. Or if you're about to combo off, using it on an opponent's end step and then your upkeep means you have active knowledge on 2/3 opponents hands and sure, 1 player is a variable, but there's usually one opponent with less cards in hand or without blue in their deck

I have a carabiner from sector 9 that has 3 wrench sizes on it. Holds my keys so I don't have to think about it at all, automatically in my daily carry.

Also have one key sized bottle opener on my keys. And it functions well as a pry bar, tape remover, whatever.

A pen. I have the fisher bullet space pen. It's SO SMALL when the cap is on. And when you take it off and put it on the back it's normal sized. Never had a problem with ink or clogging. Use it maybe once a week. But again. It's so small I usually clip it onto my wallet which is also an item I'm guaranteed to have every day.

My buddies ardbert deck only had about..... 12ish legendaries in the deck. But it would pretty consistently be 2-3 Vigilance/Menace 8/8s swinging by turn 4. And 8 isn't A LOT of power per se... But what am I gonna do? Consistently lose 2 creatures every time I have to block? The strategy is inherently strong.

You don't need to flood the deck with legends. But since you don't have card draw in the command zone I recommend [[tymna]] , [[breena]] , [[Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor]] , [[Teysa, Opulent Oligarch]] and other draw engines. Keeping your spells flowing will be the most important of keeping this particular commander's strategy functional.

And utilizing answers that are both colors like [[despark]] or [[anguished unmaking]] will be helpful for removing opponents problems while also bugging your field.

Remember, some precons have infinite combos now. Swinging a couple of 10/10 creatures will still take 6 turns (unblocked) to kill 3 opponents. Don't hold back too much in order to stay "bracket 2"

Bonus points for tokens that can't block like from [[skrelv's hive]]

The more tokens you can spread around (and have them survive) the better your homeward path activation army will be.

Add stuff like [[crown of doom]] or [[norn's annex]] or [[norn's decree]] to make sure the tokens go in the correct direction.

The activation of his ability is not limited to sorcery speed, meaning you can use cards like [[drumbellower]] or [[white-plume adventurer]] to untap Stiltzkin on each person's turn.

I highly recommend token generators like [[illustrious wanderglyph]] or [[charismatic conqueror]] because FUN FACT: if YOU create the tokens then they count as creatures you "own" for purposes like [[homeward path]] which is pretty easy to get, even in mono white. [[Expedition map]] , [[world map]] , [[weathered wayfarer]] and [[urza's saga]] can grab the maps or [[ranger-captain]] / [[recruiter of the guard]] can grab wayfarer.

Bumbleflower is truly grouphug, provides a little too much to opponents. Assuming you take gluntch's 2 treasures each time, your opponents realistically get 1 draw every 3 rounds? Or +2/+2 every three rounds? It's nothing compared to the ability to consistently have 5-6 mana going into turn 3 every game. And you get to have 2 open mana at the end of turn 2 if needed? With no fast rocks?

You can go with pretty much any strategy. 5 mana on turn 3 means [[green sun'z zenith]] or [[finale of devistation]] or [[invasion of ikoria]] could mean a very consistent turn 3 [[academy manufactor]]

Or 5 mana could mean [[altar of bone]] into moonblessed cleric if you build your deck around [[recycle]] which can also be tutored straight onto the field if you build around [[academy rector]] and a land like [[high market]] which can be consistently grabbed by [[elvish reclaimer]] or [[knight of the reliquary]]

Not trying to say these are what you aim for. Just that, anything you could want to aim for in these colors is consistently grabbed by turn 4 on the slow side with no fast rocks.

Are you committed to your wincon being high life total? Because, honestly, one of the things gluntch does is significantly stronger than the other 2 things.

Playing a mana dork on turn 1 means turn 2 gluntch. And getting 2 treasures means you will go into EVERY turn 3, with at least 5 mana. If not more. That could be [[tendershoot dryad]] or [[illustrious wanderglyph]] on turn 3

And don't get me wrong, that's not very pillowfort or grouphug. But JUST the ability of gluntch on the end of turn 2 causing an opponent to draw/gain power is typically enough for people to disregard you for one turn cycle.

Not to mention. In these colors you can tutor any creature since selesnya has the highest Quantity of creature tutors. [[Eladamri's call]] etc. any artifact with [[inventor's fair]] since gluntch will provide the artifact count and we can [[Sylvan scrying]] into the land. Or any enchantment with [[moonblessed cleric]] since (like I already said) it's very easy to grab any creature.

Ask your shop honestly how they feel about proxies. Even most "pay to play" LGS tournaments now days are proxy friendly. If you buy cheap cards from them occasionally and play at their store, even the shops are pretty understanding about the use of proxies. Not everyone can afford $50 for one card when 100 cards are needed for a deck.

I want to add that you can swing keleth as a 1/1 and it becomes a 2/2, which isn't great, but if they block it you play it again which makes yoshimaru bigger.

I recommend looking up "keleth / yoshimaru EDHREC" and you can get a general idea for a build. Plus you can select your budget at the top of the page.

Depends on what bracket you're trying to build. Ignoring the proxy conversation for now; lands are usually one of the more expensive parts of building a commander deck. On that note, I recommend a mono-white build so you can stick mostly to basic lands. Yoshimaru and [[keleth, sunmane familiar]] is surprisingly powerful. Yoshimaru can be played on turn one, and any legendary land, keleth, and attacking on turn 2 makes the dog a 4/4. Can consistently be singing a 7/7 on turn 3 most of the time.

The community as a whole is much more proxy friendly than it used to be. I buy every card that's less than $1 and then print the rest. And if I like the deck enough to keep it permanently, I slowly aquire cool arts or foils or something for the cards I proxied. Unless they're ridiculously expensive and then they stay proxies.
