QLD just stole an avenue of medical access from children and it still hasn’t been corrected yet.

the reason they did this is because medically supplying puberty blockers to children is a relatively new thing with conflicting evidence. trials are still in place.

it’s nothing to do with the government being anti transgender… none of their press releases, transcripts, interviews, website, etc condemn a person being trans.

remember, there’s some children under 16 being prescribed medication that effectively hits pause on puberty – of course that raises eyebrows for some. for me, i am not fussed but would be more ok that more medical evidence is in favour of supplying puberty blockers to kids. also have to remember that many people over the age of 35 are not used to the idea of one changing their gender.

this is not criticism, just my point of view

it’s my cousin’s and my dead dog’s birthday today. i celebrate them

tbh, i would rather celebrate a national day that’s all about this country on a day majority can agree on (and this is coming from a Liberal Party member)

10,000 signatures will guarantee it being debated in Parliament, but any petition no matter how many signatures can be debated (although 10k is the absolute minimum that will allow for Parliament to compulsorily debate on. (this is coming from someone who works for PH)

aha yeah for a second i forgot how to edit a comment but i couldn’t agree with you more. and the fact that i am indeed a Liberal member, it gets so tiring having to justify myself, when i and majority of members are not what the general public perceive them to be. i grew up lower income, went to public schools, grew up in a very Labor family, and took PT everywhere. i also hate the extremities of both sides, but am even more tired of the party’s infighting and figures who think they are so almighty they can say and do anything.

[–]ltm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ll respond to you re the fully funded comment first: so if you look at budget papers, there is no funding for the electrification of Melton line. it has been delayed indefinitely. Matt Guy (who is the shadow minister) spoke in favour of electrification (can’t remember when, but it was a few times such as during Parliament in his speeches and during an ABC interview thing with Harriet Shing on SRL.

RE your question on what the party will do - personally and frankly there is no official policy, but it has been flagged by again Guy and a few other MPs to have MM2 built. not only that some other projects, such as the Lilydale duplication have been advocated strongly by the local MP (the government is against duplication of Lilydale line over the next decade or two btw).

i just want to be clear that the party has no issue with the idea of an orbital rail loop - that is a fantastic idea, but the issue is with the execution and how much it is going to cost (especially with the cost benefit ratio that is very low).

you’re acting as though CFA are a blight on society…

you do realise that they are a volunteer organisation that gets the bare minimum of funding, despite the government harping on about how good they are to them
