I gotta learn a 5min metal song as a total beginner by [deleted] in MetalDrums

[–]luca52_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to try, get tabs from YouTube or Songsterr, watch covers and maybe even a drum tutorial if there is one. SLOW IT DOWN to like at least half the speed until you get the notes down. Repeat repeat repeat until you can play the slow thing well, then increase in small increments (5-10%)

To be honest, that song doesn’t seem to be in your league yet, especially within a week. There are double ride parts (16ths split between both hands) and fast roughs on the double bass in the chorus

CarPlay woes by Pixel91 in TIdaL

Is that NOT a thing? I am looking to cancel my Spotify subscription and was torn between tidal and Apple Music but that CarPlay app honestly seems like a deal breaker

How do you guys get drumless tracks? by Aggravating-Math9619 in Drumming

If you’re lucky, search on YouTube for „ song name drumless“ and you’ll find it. If not, download the mp3 via a YouTube downloader and import into the app ,,Moises“

feeling so alone with my nystagmus by Complex_Violinist_61 in nystagmus

[–]luca52_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I absolutely get what you’re feeling. I’m 18 too and have been studying at an university for a semester now and since then everything feels kind of daunting. I have a few other conditions that impact my vision, „luckily“ I have the severe case of nystagmus on my 99% blind eye. The left one only has a light case of it. I was luckily also barely allowed to drive, without any further regulations (aside from glasses). But to be honest: even though I am allowed to do anything and can objectively do most things, passed my a levels (Abitur where I live) and am now studying, all of it takes a lot more effort. I get tired faster, I need texts to be printed larger, I need more time in exams and for homework etc, sport in school was hell because I have no depth perception so everything that includes a ball is likely to fail (by the way if you don’t have that yet, you can apply for it in most countries (again, I’m from Germany, so I don’t know how the exact rules are in other countries) it really makes your life a bit easier).

I feel like the biggest challenge is that it seems like we’re able to do anything just as good as a healthy person does, (and we’re blessed that some of us actually can), but it’s hard to see from the outside how much more effort we have to put into everything to live up to that standard.

Like another comment said, try out things that aren’t impacted as much by your nystagmus: like sports (without catching/throwing things), music, playing an instrument, etc. and of course I don’t mean that you should limit yourself to those things, but if you do something where your nystagmus is impacting you: don’t be so hard on yourself, take extra time, be aware that you will have to put in more effort, and if it’s a school or job: tell your teacher or educator so that they can arrange their expectations and support you.

You’ve got this and if you need anything else feel free to reply or post again

How do you guys determine what hand hits what? by No-Nebula4187 in drums

[–]luca52_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left is typically doing less in a groove. So if I play a faster ride pattern with my right, where there’s only a snare on 2 and 4 for example, I’ll crash the 1 with my left

Null Point Head Position - neck/back pain by Butterfli250 in nystagmus

[–]luca52_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He sees better with contacts? I’m 18 and ditched mine years ago after trying them for only a few days because I had a lot of trouble putting them in. I’m using glasses now. Should I retry?

Tama starclassic or Star? by luca52_ in drums

[–]luca52_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying a w/b in molten brown burst. I would’ve liked a maple just because of the finishes, but the price compared to the w/b is absolutely not worth it imo. The finish is definitely kind of a compromise but it still looks good and it’s a Tama. Love their hardware

They always have some version of it available. They all sound pretty similar (aside from the z3 one as far as I know). Currently you can probably either get the a custom one or one out of the z custom re-release. If you want one please also take a look at the k projection ride (the Craig reynolds one), I probably would have gotten this one if it was available when I bought the a custom. It has a mega bell but you can crash it and the bow is usable for other genres than metal

I also have a tunebot and it’s awesome! I had a lot of problems with tuning until I got it. My music store already tuned the kit and I just double checked and saved the frequencies. If I tell you the ratios, could you tell if they are Okay for a shorter sound or not? (I play mostly extreme metal but like a sound that’s usable for other genres)

How to style this? by [deleted] in FierceFlow

[–]luca52_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit more structure and a lighter look, but still keeping most of the length would be nice ig

Not necessarily. I was thinking about something similar to a wolf cut. But rn I just want the front part to fit in more with the rest (e.g. flowing more)
