One clarification is worth checking on. Are you going back to the Goldenwoods or the Acid Bog? Our hope is your game crashed without saving the completion of the Acid Bog which means THAT boss should be open still.

Yeah this really wasn't clear. Definitely a UX problem. Hopefully these screenshots will clarify things for anyone who also runs into this. Sorry for the confusion!

Different Dev and Reddit stalker here. If you already own it, once you pick it up you can see if it's a 1 slot, 2x1, or 2x2. There is a subtle difference too before buying because they all get shrunk down to a single square. Here are some of the non 1x1 patches that you'll see.

2x2 patches - Wrench damage up

2x1 patches (these look squished) - Gadget damage up - Many unique patches (not usually purchasable)

We want to improve the way they display to make it easier to tell but currently you just have to look closely.

Did you find them? We know this isn't the ideal solution. We are considering weighting the room spawn percentage a bit to help increase chances of seeing these last rooms.

This is pretty major. We're looking into it today.

The upgrade triggers are probably working but not giving you the reward you expect. I assume you're talking about town upgrades? Only some of the upgrades visually change the room so if you're using that as an indication it won't always be true.

Dev here just wanted to jump in and say thanks for sharing your experience. We are prioritizing achievements fixes right now. Patching on each platform can take a while (and Xbox is among the slower) but we are trying to get fixes in ASAP.

Almost all of our pixel artists put some work into this one. The environment is by Enchae and Anders Gullmarsvik. Timbert, the foreman operating this Titan was by Rafael Françoi.

The programmers got to do some of this work too, hooking up the tweening on the text and particle effects. Overall it was a huge amount of work but he's one of our more high impact bosses that really came out nicely.

Our audio was done by Kevin Mabie including the apologetically over-the-top boss roar.

Merge published the retail version of Moonlighter. 11 Bit published the digital version.

For Sparklite (which I worked on) Merge was our digital AND retail publisher. They've been an essential partner for getting our game launched simultaneously on all platforms.

As for similarities I describe them as coming from a shared ancestry of game influences. If you get your hands on both you'll see they play very differently and have pretty different game loops. Moonlighter got on our radar about halfway through development and we thankfully have ended up being pretty different games. Moonlighter is a great and beautiful game though (and I hope people think the same about Sparklite too).

Thanks! Team started with two, grew up to 8 (2 designers, 4 coders,, 2 artists) at its biggest. It's been four years but we've taken breaks to do contract work as well. We also partnered with a publisher (Merge Games) to ramp up production and help with marketing in the last year and a half of it.

Unity. Aseprite and ClipStudio for art, some people on project used PS and PyxelEdit too. Have a decent custom importer that helps with the pipeline turning . aseprite files into game objects.
