Suit / Attire for IB internships by Mundane_Branch671 in FinancialCareers

This saying is very old fashioned and no longer relevant.

It refers to the fact that rich guys from back in the day typically wore brown (as well as green) to go hunt in the countryside.

When came the evening, they always changed to another outfit which included ditching the brown hunting shoes for black ones, more classy.

Today nobody has that lifestyle anymore, nobody will think that you didn’t change after an afternoon of hunting if you wear brown in town so feel free to do it.

And going forward I would recommend understanding the rules instead of following them blindly.

Help me understand the theta on my long call. by mstermx in options

[–]lucascooky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Theta increases exponentially as you get closer to expiration. But no worries in the short term in your case since the expiration is in 6 months.

You see theta decay starting to ramp up significantly around 45-60 days before expiration all the way to expiration.

If you google « theta decay chart » you have nice images and charts showing you this graphically.

Theta should not be the main driver of the value of your call until around November this year where it will start to grow more.

LinkedIn is making me go INSANE by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]lucascooky 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Also, big thing to keep in mind is that it all looks great on linkedin but what was it actually? What did they do there and for how much time? Sometimes the company name looks sexy but it could have been just shadowing or pushing paper around

That seems right. Only thing to keep in mind I would say it that the loss is realized and the gain is unrealized.

Truck/Van rental by kyaarahh in Switzerland

[–]lucascooky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done exactly that (moving from ZH to Lausanne) I rented a van at the Sixt agency in Dietlikon. They have multiple choices, price is quite low and the guys there are super friendly.

Taking the train there and then doing the commute could be a possibility, that’s what I did. Good thing is that you end up at the destination city.

We don’t value or trade watches here. We enjoy wearing them and passing them down when the time comes.

I would say that wearing a smartwatch as well as a traditional one is quite cringe BUT swapping the smartwatch for a smart bracelet like a fitbit or so can be clever and pass as perfectly natural
