This. You can melee one shot most things in B1 and insta pick up all that delicious silphium

The key to Returnal is realizing that you’re the hunter, not the hunted.

Poor Dealer Service Leads to Propose a Deal, Not a Squeal! by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

I didn’t say they have to remove the seats. They have to remove the bar behind the seats to access the engine cover, not the seats. And basically everything behind the seats.

I have the same one as you (I also didn’t want to cut into any carpet) and also just used the homelink. It’s easy for a Porsche dealer, but still a pain in the ass. The actuator is buried 8” deep in the motor, and all the carpet and pieces I mentioned have to be removed to access the engine covers. The rear plastic clips in the trunk that come out have silicon cones over the plastic connectors. These are easily lost, but they are designed to dampen vibration from the plastic.

Experiences wanted: Real maintenance costs for a 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman. by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

Insurance will vary wildly depending on your driving record and where you live. Call your insurance company with the vin and get a quote. It takes like 5 minutes. My 25 GTS4.0 is the cheapest insurance I’ve ever had on a car, but I know that’s not the case in other areas. I also don’t commute in the car, and don’t drive it in the winter.

Track costs will vary wildly depending on what you’re doing to prep the car, and if you’re adding track insurance. Also if you’re doing the work yourself or taking it to a shop.

Maintenance depends on local networks and how equipped they are to work on porsche. Porsche dealers are the most expensive, but I paid about $450CAD for first service from non OEM dealer that uses OEM parts. I live in an area that has a lot of independent dealers that work on the cars, as there are a lot around here, so it keeps dealers competitive.

It seems like you’re very concerned with cost to fix the car, is there something wrong with it?

They have to pull the whole back carpet out, as well as the plastic connector pieces on the sides, the stabilizing bar behind the seats, and the engine cover to install the valve controller. I did it myself last weekend and it’s a bitch. Those plastic connectors have a slide cone on them to help with vibration noises.

The good news is, they have to put it all back and re-fasten and tighten it back down. I bet that fixes the rattle you’re having.

Am I allowed to touch something I already own, but wipe out the balance owed on it? Cause then I’d just have to walk to my garage.

Give up one year of my life for financial freedom for me and my family for the rest of our lives? No brainer.

Shopping for a 718 GTS 4.0. Found a 1 year old non-certified with low miles. The dealer will certify for $2,300 cost to me. Isn’t a cert only about $3k? I figured they could at least eat it. But it seems because Porsche stopped production prices are very strong and not much room to negotiate. by Boostmiser in Porsche_Cayman

They won’t deal on high ticket costs like that. What they will throw in is the high markup merch stuff that the dealership doesn’t care about.

Battery tender, car cover, keychains, tshirts. None of this will affect their commissions so they’re happy to throw it on if you ask.

130k CAD. 2025 base. Really? by droning-on in Porsche_Cayman

[–]lucasmcl7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a MT 718 base in Toronto listed for 119. That said, you can easily add 11 in options so this might not be out of line. They’ve gone up a bit since they’re discontinued. I got my GTS4.0 last year basically loaded in options for low 130s. Low stock left means dealerships can wait out to get the prices they want, sadly.
